Ask your Lyft driver to drop you off Garfield Elementary School. This school is located right beside Coit Tower and is one of the steepest streets. Take a shot at Filbert St before you head up.

Coit Tower is a monument to the firefighters of San Francisco. It was commissioned by Lillie Hitchcock Coit, a wealthy socialite who loved to chase fires. It took 5 years to construct.
Did you know? The tower was built in honor of Lillie Coit, a volunteer firefighter. Her habits of gambling, smoking cigars, and wearing trousers made her a colorful character in her time. Read more
