We made this list based on recommendations from friends and a book that our friend @foodculturist handed us the day before, it's called 'Eat Dat - New Orleans' by Michael Murphy.
Coffee Shop · French Quarter · 119 tips and reviews
Wayne Surber: Becca welcomed us to New Orleans with a great selection of coffees for us to wake up to. If you are into espresso drinks, from espresso to flat whites or prefer pour overs, this is the place.
800 Decatur St (at The French Market), New Orleans, LA
Café · French Quarter · 1561 tips and reviews
Wayne Surber: Go early, like 6-9'ish, otherwise the line gets long and you'll be hangry. Falls into the disney'ish things 'done' in The French Quarter.
230 Chartres St (at Bienville St.), New Orleans, LA
Used Bookstore · French Quarter · 6 tips and reviews
Wayne Surber: The selection of books is worth stopping in or for a detour for a bibliophile. Then chat with the manager about books or the city while checking out.
739 Iberville St (Btw Royal St. & Bourbon St.), New Orleans, LA
Seafood Restaurant · Central Business District · 274 tips and reviews
Wayne Surber: We got oysters here instead of Acme on Superbowl Sunday, the one day we could have gotten into Acme easier. Anyways, they were good and the people were nice, but the oysters at Peche were far better.
Wayne Surber: Hopefully you arrived on bike or car, because then you can pop over to City Park and have a picnic. Dirty rice and 5pc for a small lunch to share.
Wayne Surber: Cruiser bikes, which make sense for the streets in the Quarter, not so much is you venture further, like we did, but still a good value. $25 a day in 2015 and a bit more for a 24 hrs rental.
Falafel Restaurant · Fairgrounds · 13 tips and reviews
Wayne Surber: This was recommended by Becca from Spitfire Coffee. We never made it and not sure we ever will since we're usually coming from one of the falafel capitals of the country, NYC.
3322 Magazine St (btw Toledano St & Louisiana Ave), New Orleans, LA
Diner · Central City - Garden · 49 tips and reviews
Wayne Surber: Brunch in the 'burbs. This st has too many ubiquitous chains seen across the US, but the food here was good diner food. Worth the trolley ride to get out of the quarter.
