really cool beer garden in alphabet city. Great beer, wine and service. Super cool neighbourhood with lots going on. Cafes, bars and restaurants. Check out this cool area along with lower east side.
Fantastic sidewalk seating, German food and drink options and without a doubt, the top NYC viewing party for the German National Team or any big Bundesliga games.
Have a zwickel and the bratwurst platter. Great during World Cup or Euros matches. When Germany isn't playing, it is more laid back and easy to get a table. When Germany is playing, well, it isn't.
They have Schnitzel Mondays, Rouladen Tuesdays & Sauerbraten Wednesdays. On Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays they have Hanx (pork shank specials). On other days, get their bierhaus gulasch (goulash)
Andech's German beer on tap!!! I believe that this is the only place in the US that has Kloster Andech's beer on tap. A must visit when in NYC! The food is good and the service is great!
We tried the pork roast and the special goose. The meat was delicious and obviously the beer was great. Overall this is a great place to get some amazing food for cold weather.
A Bavarian bierhaus in the middle of Alphabet Cit. Sommelier Michael Madrigale (Bar Boulud): “Best schnitzel in New York City and my favorite beer on draft, Jever, from Northern Germany.”
Love sitting outside on a beautiful sunny day drinking German beer. But food is worth coming even if you have to sit inside. On weekends get the Hax'n special if you love pork and yumminess.
This place is excellent and the food is very authentic. Get the Schweinsbraten with Knödel. Also, get a Radler, it’s not on the menu, but they know how to do it!
The menu consists of hearty German fare like beef goulash, homemade spatzle with cheese and bacon, sausage platters, smoked pork belly and more. Read more
Get a massive pretzel and some beer from Bavaria. Awesome outdoor seating makes this one of our favorite places in Alphabet City when the weather warms up.
Who needs to drink any other beer when there is Spaten Optimator from Munich here on tap? Dark, strong, fruity, malty, creamy and with a caramel after taste. I love it and this a great German place!
Feature dishes: Züricher Geschnetzeltes (a sliced veal cutlet in a creamy mushroom sauce) and Kaiserschmarrn (chopped, fluffy German pancakes with raisins served with applesauce).
The special Pork Shank is crispy perfection on the outside, tender on the inside and comes with great Bavarian sides. Just be prepared, skip lunch if you must to fit this gargantuan serving in!
Lots of fantastic German beers, but start with the two breweries sold exclusively at Zum Schneider: Traunstein and Andechs. You'll be speaking German by your third liter.
Beer selection was good. Lots of German beer choices. Not a big fan of the Brotzeitteller. Did not try other stuff so can't say. Definitely go for beer choice.
It's off menu, but they almost always have Schweinehaxe (roasted park shank), served w sweet stewed red cabbage, a large dumpling, & a dark smoky gravy. Best Teutonic comfort entree in the city.
