As whole-in-the-wall as it gets, with few tables, a small bar and gruff service. But the food, the food... all the Cajun/Creole classics PERFECTLY executed, and fabulous off-menu specials.
Get the taste plate which costs $14. It's shrimp creole, fried chicken, red beans&rice with sausage, rabbit&sausage jambalaya. Also came with gumbo. Just a lot of flavor. I’ll take it all at Coop’s. Read more
Absolutely loved it here. Must try their fried oysters -crunchy,cajun spiced on the outside and so juicy inside! Get the taste plate if you want to try everything. But I'd recommend the jambalaya.
Jambalaya Supreme: bonelessrabbit, sausage, rice... a little bit spicy but it’s worth it! You might have to wait for a few minutes to enter in rush hours
We had Jambalaya Supreme and CrawfishDinner. We liked it! The place has a very nice, simple old and old. Nothing fancy. You can feel a very distinct historic vibe - which is awesome.
Absolutely amazing service. Little unique place with lots of history on its walls.Loved the Jambalaya and the Abitas. The taste plate is a must if you want to try several excellent dishes.
Most amazing crawfish étouffée. The one from Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday are better. :) cuz it actually made me not want the jambalaya supreme or the fried chicken (can you believe that?!)
The place looks like a totally sketchy dive, but the food is fantastic. The fried chicken says Cajun, but I didn't notice much "Cajun" about it, still tasty! Gumbo and Jambayaya are also great.
We got the taste plate and the green beans. Honestly everything was okay... but the fried chicken was literally the best fried chicken I've ever had in my life. It was coated in heaven!!!
We started off with the lamb ribs which tasted so great!! And we both got the sampler plates- the chicken is amazing as well as the jambalaya. Wasn't a fan of the rest. Will be back for sure!
The cole slaw, the duck quesadilla, the fried chicken, the gumbo, the pasta rossa & the red beans are all DAH-LISH-US!!! The beers are so cold & will quench the spices that you're SURE to encounter.
This place may not look like much but once inside the food and the service are both excellent. If you have to wait to get in - do it if you can. It's worth the wait!
The honey mustard is sooo good!!! For a person that doesn't like mustard I was in love!!!! The gumbo is spicy but just the right amount! Love the atmosphere! We are dippin it and doing it!
Yes this is a DIVE and feels more bar then restaurant but the food that comes out of this place is true Cajun! I went here with 9 guys for a bachelor party and the food was great.
Delicious food in here. Maybe not the most focused customer service but I'm sure that comes with getting a lot of tourists. It's a tight squeeze and the bathrooms are technically outside in the back.
The Rabbit and SausageJambalaya is absolutely superb! The texture brings to the mind visions of unremembered pleasures of Thanksgiving and days by the lake. You MUST try it.
I eat here at least once a week. the food is phenomenal.. However, the service can be retched. it is normal to feel as if you are being ignored. they can be a little too relaxed in this dive bar vibe.
If you want to try the best of the best, order the duck quesadilla and Coop’s Taste Plate. They’re big enough that you can probably even share those with someone if you’re really pinching pennies. Read more
A beat-up joint described by Zagat as "where the not-so-elite meet to eat". Perfect description. If it's your first meal in NOLA, try their Cajun chicken and jambalaya supreme.
Decatur Street hole in the wall with great rabbit jambalaya. Cooked out on the patio in a big cast iron pot; you might smell a bit smoky when you leave.
