Since the fall of the Melrose a few years ago, this is the new diner to go to in South Philly. Great food, great people! You are bound to run into someone you know if you live in South Philly : )

Like all places, it's hit or miss. Took 3 waitresses before we ordered, and it's pretty amazing that you need to explain what a hot roast beef sandwich is... Sometimes it's the twilight zone here.

Starting 1/1/19, Penrose is no longer going to be 24 hours. New hours are 6 am to midnight daily.

Food is good. Waitress very nice and pleasant. Older hostess major attitude. Not friendly at all. Like she couldn't be bothered.- Don't expect to have a quiet meal if they sit you all the way in the back. That's where they usually put all of the rowdy young kids.
