One of my favorite summer bars: amazing (and huge) garden and next to McCarren park. Sometimes they'll let you bring food from nearby to cater your own party. Come for the drafts and the salty dogs.
Great beer, huge patio, and an amazing Korean hole in the wall downstairs. If you're about the clean eating get the bonchon. Amazing. The scallion something cake is basically Korean pizza from heaven!
My favorite place to eat in Greenpoint- chef woody is amazing - his handmade dumplings are great - solid for vegetarians too, plus good music, good bar, and great outdoors space. Highly recommend.
This is a typical dive bar but don't be afraid. Only 4 beer taps but they are good beers plus cans and bottles. The liquor selection is impressive, especially the whiskey.
Chill in the tree-lined courtyard at the back. Dance to live vinyl played by a DJ behind the bar. There's no signage when you're finding this place on the street.
It's like Fern Gully but with more tattoos. Happy hour runs until 8 and features $2 off drafts and wells, and there's food to be had downstairs. They also pour a solid Old Overholt for $6!
Originally a ramen shop led by Lindsay Salminen, the shop has now taken a Thai direction under Chef Nam. Dishes range from Bok Choy to Fish ball Noodle Soup. Read more
massive backyard. long picnic tables, wooden swing and big, blooming tree smack-dab in the middle, it's still one of the loveliest outdoor spots in the area
Collect your friends and four or five bags of Wise chips (maybe throw some Cheetos in there too). Spread out at a backyard table on a summer night, drink, and get weird.
Monday night DJ really knows what he's doing. Other staff also excellent as is decor. Peak hours=a bit crowded for my taste. Noodle bar downstairs=best Thai food ever.
The nameless Greenpoint bar recently started serving noodles out of its lower level. Patrons are instructed to order at the bar and bring their ticket downstairs to Lindsay Salminen (Pies n' Thighs) Read more
Grub Street off-menu dish: An Entire Noodle Counter. "This isn't so much an off-menu dish as it is an entire semisecret restaurant in the basement of a nameless Greenpoint bar."
Backyard is big and really nice. The staff was really nice. The place was packed full of really annoying kids on a Fri night but that is my problem, not theirs. I should never go out on a week night.
If you order a tecate, be sure to request a lime, otherwise they use "lime juice" and your first sip will taste like barf. None the less, fantastic joint
Got a free shot for waiting a bit to order a beer. Then realized the bartender gave me change for a 10 rather than the 20 I gave him. That's an expensive free shot!
No more Thai food/drunk noodles downstairs. It s Korean "restaurant only" (no drinks from upstairs) and were out of half items on their menu before 11. On a Monday. On their opening night.
The Thai noodlebar downstairs is no more-the end of what used to be a great thing. The now Korean gig was unprepared on their 1st night; ran out of dumplings before midnight on a Monday. AWFUL service
