The Hudson News stand within the concourse has a really well-stocked selection of both national and international titles!

If your ultimate goal is to catch a NJ transit train going to trenton - Stay in the 3rd car from the front of the PATH train. At Newark you'll be right in front of the turnstiles that take you to the- Use CooCoo and PathAlerts for schedule and delay info... But always try to be early! I've missed many trains because they left earlier than the schedule suggested and missed later connections...
Although made famous on Get Smart, New Jersey is commonly recognized as the birthplace of the elevator telephone.
After inserting your ticket, trains to NEWARK and Harrison are on tracks 3 & 4 while trains going to 33rd Street, Grove St., Newport, Columbus and World Tradr Center are on tracks 1 & 2.
Martin StrangeApril 18, 2013Learn where the train stops to be the first to the stairs. Sometimes, the wait to the stairs and escalators can be ridiculous. SMH lazy people.- Elevator access is super helpful if you have heavy luggage and can't lift it easily over the turnstiles. If one escalator is off, usually one on the other side is going up.
Usually never full and usually way cleaner than New York City’s MTA trains.
Patrick HealyOctober 24, 2011During rush hour, it's still the fastest way to Newark. I don't care what others say. On the weekends you're screwed though. Use the rail then. It will be an off peak fare too!

If you want to play musical chairs, wait for the train from WTC to come and race to the 33rd train with other people to grab a seat. :)
Don't lean to the outside of a crowded car when you have a door spot. If there is space for 1/2 person between you & your doormate, some bunghole will manage to squeeze into it.
Don't walk down the stairs if you're going to take your time, use the escalators!- If you have luggage or a bike, take the elevator from the platform to street-level or the concourse.
Pretty decent service for the price! Especially when you have service direct to WTC.

Everyone says there're no trash cans anywhere underground, but they forget about the deli/cafe across from Duane Reade, before the escalators to the PATH. There's a few receptacles in there

If you're really in a rush, skip the long lines and buy a 2 trip metrocard from the blue vending machine. Its a lot more convinient!- All Path conductors are cool except for one..He slams the window everytime he opens and closes it at every stops.sooo annoying!
The ATMs at the credit unions on the lower level only charge $1.50 for non-members as opposed to $3.00 from Chase or BofA.
On Summit Ave, east of the station, an open lot has $8 all day parking. Watch your valuables though.
This train is pretty cool until Teddy from the Bergen Lafayette homeless shelter gets his beggin ass on! Lol
Wait for the next train during rush hour..they come every 3 mins if that... it's ridiculous how many people I've had literally sit on me because of how #Thirst they were to get a seat...
Hey able-bodied jackasses-- unless you have a stroller or are in a wheelchair, take the damned escalator!- Nice of them to offer a tiny bit of heat/shelter in the lobby area for those waiting for their trains.
Make sure you know where the doors open. The Newark riders will come and jump in front of you if you aren't vigilant.

Very little places to lock up your bike, so if you're on a schedule, give yourself sometime for parking.
LuisOctober 9, 2010Often the stop where you have to get off and transfer when heading to WTC or Hoboken after a red bull match. Looks like a train station in a cave. Chill.
Don't rush into the path train to get a seat going people....old ladies will stiff arm you out the way!
Get a smartcard or auto refill because the machines don't always work
Rinna EscamillaApril 23, 2010Anyone else notice there are no trash cans in the station? From the moment you step anywhere in the plaza all the way down, not a can. Make sure you throw anything away in the cans on Bergen or Sip.
Nobody follows the stand on R pass on L on the escalators...they appear upset when I say, "Excuse me, please." Aaaargghh! I have a train to catch, you know?? O_o
the one conductor that does morning and afternoon announcements (weather, news, sports,etc) is awesome. He's there during rush hours
NWK-33rd St. Train directly in front of you if your on NWk - WTC Train.
Have your bag ready for a bag check so u don't have to waste time opening it. Also don't complain about it because it only takes a few seconds. Stay safe. P.O. Perez.
