- Austin ChronicleFebruary 11, 2014The key word for the meats at Schmidt Family is moist, followed by the word tender. Expect no glazes, just smoke and spice. We dig the sausage's beefy flavor accented with pepper, garlic, and cayenne. Read more
- ReaganOctober 29, 2013Holy cow this place is tasty! I haven't tried everything (yet), but sausage rocks, turkey is flying under the radar, & beans may be the most flavorful in TX. Sauce is dead on: sweet, spicy & peppery.
- Emily MasonOctober 11, 2017Went after getting over 2 types flu: had chicken which fell off the bone, creamed corn with poblano peppers, and a smoked baked potato. Owners as amazing as the food! Portions big enough for 2 meals!
- EaterJanuary 3, 2014The family behind iconic Lockhart barbecue restaurants Smitty's and Kreuz Market have brought the brisket goodness to Bee Cave.
- Jackie OliverMay 20, 2014Amazing food and service. Family business from Lockhart and they really live up to the reputation! Must try this place if you haven't yet
- Douglas GrayOctober 25, 2015The beef brisket is fork split amazingly delicious. Try the bbq sauce in the big bottles near the napkins.
- Hayden SmithApril 6, 2014Personally out does Franklins BBQ in Austin. Brisket is just the way I like it. Very impressed except for not having any BBQ smell outside the place. Damn Bee Cave politics
- Bill HunterNovember 23, 2013Pretty good. I thought the brisket and sausage was moist and very tasty. Side were good too. Not what I expected for a "mall" restaurant.
- ReaganNovember 16, 2013Everything is delicious, but make sure you don't miss the hot sausage ring or the turkey.
- Shaun MoutonMarch 23, 2014If you like your barbecue simple and fatty, you'll like Schmidt Family. Their sauce is horrifyingly bad, but that's not why you're here. You want meat, salt, pepper, and meat. It's here.
- Jerry HernandezNovember 8, 2013I felt like back in school with the cafeteria type of rooms. Other than that, the food was great!
- James BrownNovember 1, 2013Give it a few weeks/months from November 2013. Almost no smoke flavor to the brisket, and zero flavor to sausage. Sausage had no smoke and was super greasy. BBQ sauce was ok, but still mild.
- Jeff MeekerAugust 7, 2014Just like Kreuz in Lockhart. Decent BBQ. Suasage as good as expected it to be
- Don't sit outside. Smoke is real heavy and killer on the eyes.
- Gasket RadarJanuary 31, 2014Ok, well it was ok. Not alot of smoke, ketchup sweetness to the sauce. Spare ribs were blah. Brisket was average. I did like the pickles!
- Kat SwanseyMay 4, 2014Skip the sauce, it's not great. Brisket is good - could use more smoke. Overall 3 out of 5.
