Terminal 5 is great ! The concessions are way better here than many of the other terminals I have been.
If you are taking a cab into Manhattan, there is a flat rate of $45 from JFK to any point in Manhattan. Tolls and tip are extra, as are a $0.50 (50 cent) surcharge for using the trunk space.
JoshMarch 29, 2014Shake Shack at Gate B36 opens at 6 AM and has a mean Bacon, Egg & Cheese. They also sell alc at this time. Just sayin'
By far my pick for flying in and out of NYC, especially if you live in parts of Brooklyn not called Williamsburg.

Picking up passengers at JFK? Make a plan so that they give you a call when they've picked up their luggage. Park, at no charge, at the Cell Phone Lot. It's only about 4 minutes from all terminals!

Headed to the city? Take the NYCAirporter bus. Departs every 30 min to various locations for $16. Free wifi aboard too.
Wear comfy shoes. This airport makes you walk 3 miles to and from your terminal. #Fail
Shannon MooreAugust 1, 2013So, if you ever find yourself penniless at JFK, go to the Travelex stations in terminal 3, 7 or 8 and a loved one can wire you cash immediatly..... phew.- If flying Delta to LAX, LHR and SFO, check in at Terminal 2 with the Business Elite, First/Business Class, and Medallion people. Better than elbowing with the masses at Terminal 3.

Frequent travelers beware! Delta T4 TSA Pre-check is anything but fast. Babies, the elderly, and people who have never flown before all seem to find their way into this line. Leave plenty of time!!- The Sapphire Bar beside gates 9 & 10 in Terminal 7 is a real hidden gem at JFK - super quiet, comfy and full of great gin!
Jet Blue Terminal 5 - Love the free WiFi, and check out the comfy lounge chairs at the end of the gates (ie by gates 14&15)

For best coffee locate a Shake Shack and get Stumptown bottled cold brew or classic drip.
