Outside of my uncle's kitchen, Yamo has some of the best Burmese food I've ever had! The chicken noodle soup (khao swè) is very tasty! There are only 8 seats but it's worth the wait. Cash only.
One of the best if not THE best Tea Leaf Salad's I've ever had. Yamo House Special Noodle #protip: mix it WELL, let it sit for a few minutes and THEN enjoy (oh, and NO PICTURES! tee hee hee)
Great hole-in-the-wall with only 8 seats at the bar. Dirt cheap (no dish more than $6). All dishes made fresh before your eyes. Just laugh at the grumpy chefs behind the counter.
The tea leaf salad is crunchy, sweet & spicy all at once! The chicken noodle soup is with a splash of coconut. The house noodles are tasty/oily while the chicken noodles aren't. Skip the spring rolls. Read more
Chicken salad with hot perfectly crisped chicken, crunchy wide noodles, red onion and chili. Known for good, cheap food and no frills service. Always a unique experience. Those ladies are badass OGs
Delicious and super cheap. There is one line for both dine in and take out, so make sure you're in the right place in line. Get the house noodles with beef and a Mexican coke.
Tea leaf salad, cold noodles, and the chicken noodle soup are favorites but you can't go wrong with anything here. Splurge and order half the menu; it will only cost $30.
One of the real gems of the Mission District. The tea leaf salad is a must. And be sure to soak in the unique experience of sitting so close as the three women of Yamo work their magic.
Eating in or taking out, Yamo never fails to satisfy. They've changed their teasalad recently though, making it sweeter. Chicken noodle soup, house noodles, and samusas are all good.
Walk in get the nod what's up? Then white hair lady yells "to go!?!" I get my coconut chicken noodle soup fix here! She's not mean I always get a real sweet thank you back when I thank her for my food
Love the house noodles and spicycold noodles. There's barely any seating in the tiny hot space, so be prepared to find somewhere else to eat. I recommend Dolores Park a few blocks away.
Hilariously inexpensive food in a counter-only noodle shop. The chicken noodle soup is out of this world. Mango chicken was delicious. Spinachnoodles were just okay.
House noodle with beef is extra nice when you eat it here... Perhaps because you are more inclined to utilize the fish sauce and chili oils on the counter.
Tea leaf salad is slightly life changing. Don't make plans after your meal, you will smell (delicious) like you slaved over the flames that cooked the MSG in all it's glory.
This place reminds me of Asian local street food place. Teasalad is great. House noodle looks good too. It's long line, may be better to order a takeout.
Ordered the tea leaf salad for pickup and got something really wilted, bitter and a little stale tasting. I did like the house noodles with beef, and will definitely order it again in the future.
Come for the food, not the service. It can get a little soup nazi-Ish at times, but that's the beauty of it! Know what you want and don't be a jerk. :-)
Coconut chicken noodle soup is pretty great. Small portions, though. Also don't even think about getting seated without everyone in your party present.
incredible hole in the wall spot. mango chicken and fresh coconut juice is the order. make sure you don't plan on wearing those close any time soon cuz you're gonna smell like Burma...
Legitimate hole in the wall that serves cheap Burmese food. Don't expect Burma Superstar quality and the portions are small. But the tea leaf salad IS yummy!
Favorite cheap eat - eat here for cheap ($10-$12 for a full meal) and delicious Burmese. Hole in the wall, queues can be sometimes be long, take-away is the answer if you live close by!
