I'm very partial, but this is the greatest spot on the greatest college campus in the world!

There are two, count 'em, TWO stops in the Mizzou Audio Tour on the Quad. You can listen to insider info about Francis Quadrangle (2#) or the Columns (3#) by dialing 573-629-1364.

Did you know... During the first 50 years of the University, a large lake was located on this Quad and was a popular place for boating in the summer and ice skating during the winter!

Share in this Mizzou tradition and be part of the Freshman class of 2015 as they symbolize their entrance into Mizzou. Welcome them on the quad at 6:30 and enjoy Tiger Stripe after the event.

At one time, ivy grew on five of the Columns. The sixth was barren because, as the story goes, over a woman's love, a fight between two soldiers ended with one of them being shot at the column's base!

Find an empty bench or a spot on the grass, relax and enjoy the scenery.

The traditional symbol of the University is this row of six ionic columns, easily the most recognizable icon on campus. They're all that remain of Academic Hall, which burned down on January 9, 1892.

Did you know... During the Civil War, MU was used by the Union as a guardhouse, housing Confederate prisoners. Memorial Gateway (at the entrance to the Quad) was created in honor of those who fought.

As tribute to former Missouri governor David R. Francis, his statue stands just left of the doors to Jesse Hall. It is said that when a student rubs his nose, they’ll get an “A” on their next exam!

Did you know... You're standing on underground passages. Beneath the Quad and across campus, maintenance workers use tunnels to check and repair utilities. Sorry, students: authorized personnel only!
