Do the tour! I recommend starting at Sun Studio before heading to any of the other music spots. Lays a solid foundation for everything else you will learn.

Sun Studios offers a very short tour of their studios, but it is certainly worth it. You also have the ability to take amazing photos in the legendary studio with original equipment from the past.

So cool to see where Elvis spent time recording. They have a microphone he used that you can get your picture with. Still an active recording studio. So much history!

Great history of the place given on the tour. Well worth the money and time. If you visit Graceland, there is a free shuttle from there to Sun Records and Rock n; Soul and back.

Fabulous chocolate shake & enthusiastic guide. Touching & taking pictures with one of the 5 original microphones that Elvis, Cash or ANY of the founders of rock-n-roll makes this tour invaluable.

Grab a drink and hang out at the counter before your tour. The staff is amazing and fun to talk to (most of them are in bands or produce or do other cool stuff).

Awesome tour, made more awesome by the guide, Jason. He really makes the tour; you can tell how passionate he is. (If you buy the tickets at the Memphis Visitors Center, they're a dollar cheaper.)

Cash and the King made it popular, but did you know the first rock 'n' roll song was recorded at Sun by Jackie Breston and the Delta Cats in 1951? "Rocket 88" had Ike Turner on the keyboards.
