The relatively shorthike up to the summit was well worth the prize. The views from the top are simply amazing. Best place I've been to in ATL so far. Breath taking sunsets.
Coming down from the summitt an nice alternaive is along the fence. Great views down at Lakes GC and Confederate Hall. Trail veers through woods where you will see unique wildflwrs, birds + few ppl
It's quite the accomplishment to make it to the top but wear shoes with good grip. Flats, sandals, anything other than athletic shoes or hikingboots is a bad idea.
I went up while it was raining. Special treat: A river down Stone Mountain. Wear proper shell clothing and keen rivershoes. Be careful. The empty mountain is worth it. All Yours!
