All you can bring to the pool is a towel and a book – what more do you need to enjoy this massive and clean pool. Oh yeah, don’t forget your lock and if need be, a white t-shirt.

Constructed between 1934-36 the WPA Pool was designated in 2008. Set on a landfill site between the former Erie Basin and Gowanus Canal, its Art Moderne design sets it apart from other WPA projects.

Been here 10+ times
Lap swimming open from 7-8:30am and 7-8:30pm. Rules are strict: must have a combination lock, white t-shirt with no logos (i'm not kidding). Call ahead, it's sometimes unexpectedly closed.

super strict - white shirts only, nothing but a towel & reading material on the pool deck - but it's a great place on a hot day in the city
