The temple compound, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is the largest Hindu temple site in Indonesia, and one of the biggest in Southeast Asia. It is characterized by its tall and pointed architecture.
Having seen Borobudurtemple's night look couple of times, last week I was standing out right there to rejoice how admiring the 9th-century Hindu temple also known as Candi Rara Jonggrang is.
Get the combined ticket for Borobudur and Prambanan. Sunset was good but I think sunrise might be a little better here. Check out the other temples on the compound. Less crowded and more info on it
Entrence tickets are expensive but it is definately wortal seing. Combain tickets for Prambanan and Borobudur are available. It is much chaper. Both temples are especialy worth visit for the sunrise.
In Friday morning, a group of yogist use this field to exercise yoga. It's really refreshing to have yoga in Prambanan. So close to the nature. Come and join the group when you are around Jogja.
No doubt, it is incredible beautiful temple....unfortunately, many other stones build has been already destroyed but it is so big and beautiful temple, I have never seen...
Several temples are currently being rebuilt but the main temples are complete and impressive. SUNSET is not the big deal as it goes down behind many trees. Last of the temples is as great as quiet
It’s been 20 years since the last time I actually visited this temple & facilities have improved a lot. Except that I found this guy at the exit who brought a huge snake & that is not entertaining!!
Make sure you watch the Ramayana Balletperformance. Defo worth your time! Visit between April - Aug to be able to enjoy the magnificent, colossal outdoor Ramayana performance. You won't regret it.
Much better value for money than Borobadur, large grounds to spend time on. Try avoid coming on weekends or around midday as there will be crowds of people.
Great ancient Hindu temple located in Klaten. There are temples dedicated for Shiva, Vishnu, etc. This temple was also a location for filming "The Philosopher".
Prambanan is a 9th century Hindu temple compound in Central Java, dedicated to the Trimurti, the expression of God as the Creator (Brahma), the Sustainer (Vishnu) and the Destroyer (Shiva).
The show start from 7.30pm. Please come earlier and you will get beautiful scene, when the moon rises from east among the temples. I guess the best performance was the second part, when Anoman burned.
Cost for foreigners is 15 times more than the local, be prepared to pay almost $20. Separate entrance for foreigners, you will also get your sarong there, no matter shat you are wearing.
