The campsites here book up quickly for weekends. But if the weekend you want to come is booked, always check back. Sometimes folks cancel & you can get a site, even at the last minute!

This state park is the best way to get away for the weekend/day. There are beautiful bike and foot trails. Go in the Fall when the weather is cool and the mosquitoes aren't swarming! Bring sunscreen.

Stop by the visitor center for great exhibits of local flora and fauna and live animals. But even more so for the excellent and friendly staff. My first trip to this park was wonderful.

George Observatory is one of the only ones in the country that allows the public to view through the lens on Sat nights. Be sure to see it!

Beautiful place to bring the family. Be careful of alligators. Entry fee could stand to be a little easier on the wallet though.

Air like pea soup and mosquitoes the size of Volkswagens, but beautiful scenery and good biking trails for hybrids. Wear sunglasses so your eyes don't get full of gnats.

Just far enough away from town but close enough to get there in time to enjoy a weekend of nature and clean air.

Watch out for the idiots who think it is a good idea to throw rocks at gators, even the baby ones.
