Oh hell no! As a NYer I refuse to believe it. Here are ten places friends and others recommend. I will personally visit to see if their pizzas hold up to NY standards. DEEP DISH NEED NOT APPLY!

7x7 Magazine: Simple, but delicious cheese slice...it's #86 on 7x7's Big Eat SF 2010. Read more.
2. Tony's Pizza Napoletana
3. Gioia Pizzeria
Uzi: Best Pizza west of NY. Don't be afraid of the line, they are quick. Read more.
4. Cheese Board Pizza
Norbert Hu: Long line but moves fast. Pizza is great, especially at $2.50 a giant slice
5. Escape From New York Pizza
Peter N: Decent pizza and prob the closest you can get to nyc in the sf area.
6. Howie's Artisan Pizza
Emrecan Dogan: A slice of cheese pizza is $5. It is big (good for a couple) and it is delicious.
7. Village Pizzeria
ᴡ lee: Great NY style pizza
8. Victor's Pizza
Chad Scott: order a slice to go but sit in the dining room. they'll happily serve it to you "to go."
9. Amici's East Coast Pizzeria
Emrecan Dogan: Order a large pizza in two halves with different flavors
10. A Slice of New York
Char: Just really good pizza! Hard to beat! Try a slice and half order of garlic knots for $5.75. Closed on Mondays!
