If you sit at the bar and order wisely, you can certainly eke out a meal for not much more than $15/head. It was a light meal, we were certainly full when we left, and more than satisfied.
All around top performer across categories. Sauteed zucchini appetizer is unlike anything I've ever had. If you're ordering grappa, know it comes rather large.
The Red Cat's over-the-top deep-fried bacon dish has been on and off the menu sporadically since its inception. And though it's currently off, the restaurant assures us it's always available.
One of the best american cuisine restaurants ever. You can order anything, and will be perfection- pork chop, crispy skate... Make sure you start with an amazing cocktail!
Down-to-earth place with friendly staff and exceptional food. Everything we had was delicious. I recommend the pistachio semifreddo w hot fudge and flourless chocolate cake!
Arctic char fish on beets is buttery and delicious. The tempura greens are great. The Montenegro Manhattan is a delicious twist on the original. The mai tai wasn't good. Bland and watered down.
Grub Street off-menu dish: Tempura Bacon. "The over-the-top deep-fried bacon dish has been on and off the menu sporadically, though the restaurant assures us it's always available."
Really tasty food, tried the watermelon salad, the tempura, mezzelune and the roasted chicken & they were all great. however the zucchini was nothing special & the mac n cheese was less than average.
Admire funky décor like barn siding and rotating artwork while enjoying perfectly-cooked zucchini, fresh burrata, and grilled beer brats with mac and cheese.
Baked fontina will completely fill you up (shared with someone at that). Sunday brunch seems to be enjoyed by mature audience which makes it real brunch, not drunch.
Everything's good. They'll serve their great burger (a bar special) anywhere in the restaurant, just ask for it. You'll have to ask for their excellent herbed fries on the side.
Back before the overpriced condos and trendmongers of the Meatpacking, Red Cat was making delicious, creative New American cuisine for the art gallery set and other locals. Still as good as ever.
Great food, ambiance and a wonderful waitress who heard my mom mention wanting just a small bite of dessert and brought us chocolate truffles on the house.
Ted Allen's favorite, on Food Network's The Best Thing I Ever Ate, is The Red Cat, a local legend serving sauteed zucchini, seared tuna, and everything in-between. Find more tips at FN Local Read more
I have never been a fan of salads. Because they are boring. Not here. I will wholeheartedly recommend you eat a salad here. Order two different ones, they're really good.
This Chelsea stalwart opened in 1999, when New York’s gallery scene was still transitioning to Chelsea. Now, the cozy restaurant is an art world dining institution. Read more
Rarely would you choose to order something as simple + ordinary as a BLT at a restaurant of this caliber, but the BLT here is out of this world perfect w/ an unusual twist of dates for added sweetness
Had a tough night here. Place is great, just ordered wrong. Chicken liver appetizer didnt sit well with us. Pass on it for something a bit less adventurous.
We love chef Bill McDaniel's Bacon Tempura. Want to make this delicious dish yourself? You can find the recipe in "The Better Bacon Book" for iPads http://bit.ly/foursq_bacon

This "pioneer of Chelsea" features a quick sauté of zucchini w/ toasted almonds & pecorino. Pair w/ a glass of 2008 Cava Rose from Mont Marcel = perfection!
Start with cocktails - can't go wrong with the Violet Spritzer. Then, order a side of tempura green beans. Not listed as an appetizer, but they'll serve it as one. Next, calf's liver = Divine.
