This is The best bar in San Antonio. Hands-down! The night we were there they have a live jazz quartet it was awesome. It didn't even feel like I was in Texas. I highly recommend it!
Burgers are definitely great, but don't miss the short ribempanada or molechicken. Both are uniquely prepared and delicious. All of the cocktails are expertly made, but you might have to wait.
I'm seeing complaints on timing. Reserved a table via Opentable and had great, timely service. Remember, Mixologists take their time with crafty drinks so be patient, it's worth it!
Nice resto bar away from the craziness of the rest of the Riverwalk. They have a live jazz/blues band too. Bison burger + saltine & chili flakebreadedshrimp sandwich were good!
Interesting cocktails and nice selection of local beers. The bar was full, so we took a patio table and it was even better for people watching. Our server Victor was the best!
The Longest bar in Texas! Serving downtown since 1933, their classic "Old Fashion" with your choice of rye whiskey, añejo tequila, or esquire single barrel rum blend no. 1 and served on the rocks!
Definitely ask the bartender what he recommends! I had the French 75 and could not have been happier. The shrimp cocktailappetizer is amazing as well as the Texas French Onion Dip!! WILL Return!!!
“This place is magic,” says Feast Portland’s Mike Thelin of this 1933-established bar on the San Antonio River Walk that feels like walking into an old saloon. Read more
Food is amazing. Cocktails are as good as my favorite bar in NYC. Everything is a fraction of what I would pay in NYC. Cannot recommend enough. Try the stormy high!
On the Riverwalk, but out of the way so there isn't a constant stream of people passing by. Relaxing balcony. Classic tavern with old elegance. Good beers and cocktails.
At Esquire Tavern, cocktails are a craft. The oranges in a screwdriver are fresh squeezed directly into the glass. Old fashioned was made with love too. Well worth a visit!
Was nice and quiet and relaxing. However, they are a little full of themselves! Waiter recommended a drink for me, I have it a chance and had about 4 sips and knew it wasn't for me!
A bar for San Antonio visitors who want a taste of the local life. They say everything's big in Texas, but this is the largest bar in the Lone Star State.
The Tomcat Miller String Trio plays American roots music (rockabilly/blues/jazz) every Tuesday from 8-11! Sounds great w/ a bacon cheeseburger & Pecan Porter.
was ok, nice interior, long bar and good band. we chose this place after reviews said it was the best margherita in town. sorely disapointed at the margherita it was poor and well over priced.
One of the Top 25 Bars in America, The Esquire Tavern opened in 1933 to celebrate the end of Prohibition - a beloved San Antonio watering hole ever since.
