Excellent celebration location. Food could be a tad bit better. Overall this is a great place for events. Dance club and bar in the basement restaurant above. Outdoor seating.
TIL the name comes from Fort Putnam, a revolutionary war fort (today we know it as Fort Greene Park). It was named after George Washington’s chief engineer Colonel Rufus Putnam. 🌠Upvoted Oct 5- Happy hour specials: get the brussel sprouts, devils on horseback, oysters, or wings. Everything on the menu is good, though. Lots of fantastic brews and bites. Fun trivia on Wednesday nights!

The space is nice, so I could see it as being a good place to watch the game, but I would come with a full belly.- Entire menu is delicious & amazing; small to large portions, be sure to ask the friendly, knowledgable staff for a rec. Extensive beer list!

Every Thursday Night in the downstairs lounge starting at 9pm you will find the hottest party in Brooklyn for a Thursday!! Drink Specials and COOL DJs!!- chicken biscuit - deep fried chicken thigh with sausage gravy on a biscuit with a green salad

The shrimp po' boy is bonkers. Salt 'n pepper shrimp on a po' boy roll with all the fixins. Huge and delicious.
Devils on Horse back EVERY time! Staff are lovely. Great place for snack and drinks or a group dinner- chicken liver mousse with toast, fig jam, and a bunch of tiny pickles

caesar salad has a lot of dressing on it, but in a really good way. shepherd's pie is meaty/beyond delish.
Troy is super nice. Really accommodating and friendly. Bought my buddy a few beers when the kitchen had grill problems. And the bar top is huge and great for parking.
So glad they reopened so soon after smoke/water damage. The food and drinks are still solid!- cheeseburger spring rolls served with ketchup and spicy mustard

Putnam is more roomie tho, in case you are having a meeting or bigger group.
Go to the secret lounge downstairs and ask for the vegetarian chili, you won't regret it.
Awesome neighborhood joint. The burger is legit. You're gonna need an extra napkin.
Pork ribs hash was fantastic. Service slightly slow but worth it.

Trick is to get the raw oysters on happy hour special! Then it's easier to justify the full dozen!- Downstairs Lounge recently opened. Amazing space. Absolutely nothing like it in the area.
- cheeseburger rolls are on the money... as well as the Putnam's Burger
