The service and the vibe of the room is cozy and great. The empanadas were nice especially the plantain and oxtail one, but mains were lacklustre and disappointing. Still a great neighbourhood spot.
Everything that comes off their open-flame grill is charred to perfection. That octopus! If you want a fried treat, the chicharrones are excellent - just make sure you request bones in the chicken🐔
As a Dominican, I can fully attest that this place is the bomb diggidity damn. Wow! Sangria, tostonesrellenos (and I don't even like beef), sancocho, everything wow! Live music weekly.
The sangria and empanadas are so good. The main dishes are also great and the tres leches is a great way to end the meal! Everyone is so friendly. Great date spot.
Puerto Viejo is a Dominican bistro that has the expected Dominican dishes like sancocho with pieces of chicken and pork and tender roasted pernil. The homemadehabanerohot sauce is a must. Read more
I really dig this restaurant. I named it one of my 20 TrendyCaribbean restaurants. See more here: http://jayblessed.com/2015/11/18/jays-list-20-trendy-dine-in-caribbean-owned-restaurants-in-nyc/
this is one of my favorite restaurants. sancocho is amazing (I always get it) and their sangria is wonderful. haven't had anything I didn't like yet and the prices are great
The menu is varied so that you can either get a hearty main or share a bunch of sides appetizers. Volume is loud enough to focus you on your dinner partner without being deafening. Service is friendly
Pastellon is incredible. Chicharrones de pollo are great little deep fried bits of delicious. And definitely have some plantain chips to start. This place is fantastic.
Seriously the best empanadas anywhere. The cheese one is so good that I want to have it for breakfast with eggs on the side. One minus is that it's cash only.
they *are* open on sundays for brunch, with a special dominican brunch menu. i think it's just for the summer. whatever that pulled porkeggs benedict thing is on the menu, get it.
Vegetarian here: Not a lot of veggie options, but the ones available are very good! Veggie mofongo, some veggieempanadas, and some sides are really good. Very Dominican tasting drinks.
Latin american cuisine. A really good choice if you want to try something different. Good prices and delicious food. "Pernil" is my personal recommendation :)
Best Dominican food I have had in Brooklyn. One of the best restaurants I have been to in the Prospect Heights / Crown Heights / Fort Greene area of Brooklyn.
Delicious and beautiful, earthy, laidback vibe. Everthing was delicious including the cheeseempanadas and cuban sandwich. My son decided its his new favorite place
Happy hour$1 empanadas and $3 beers. Best happy hour ever! And the empanadas are really good, always ask for the spicy sauce, it's home made and super spicy. Love it!
Order a pitcher of red sangria and feast on empanadas. Go with at least one white cheese. Prove you are a man by a generous portion of their hot sauce. Prooooove it!
