Here's how you get in: Enter Crif Dogs, and veer left into a phone booth.Bam: you¹re inside. Enjoy the kitsch on the walls and try to avoid thecalorie-busting deep-fried hot dogs (if you can).
Get the fried hot dog with cheddar cheese, crab dip, and cape codchips on top! Ask the mixologist for a funky drink to complement it! and enjoy in the gorgeous ambience
Walk into Crif Dogs. Look for a phone booth. Step inside, pick up the phone and press the buzzer once. Not twice. A voice answers, after approval, the wall of the booth opens to let you into the bar.
For such a tiny bar PDT’s reputation is vast, due in part to its phone booth-in-a-hot-dog-stand entrance and ubiquitous bartender-proprietor Jim Meehan. Read more
If you get here before your date don't be confused. Walk into the phone booth, pick up the phone. You'll be let into a dark haven. Order the Rosemary Society and comment on his witty date pick.
Great drinks! you really appreciate the place when you sit by the bar and notice the attention to detail when they make their drinks. Great place to bring guests looking for something different
This Speakeasy in the East Village is hard to find and not to be missed. The only way to get in is by ringing the telephone at the phone booth outside.- Alyse, Assistant Buyer
Try PDT's very first vodkacocktail - the Gold Coast! Made with Karlsson's Gold, Carlshamns Flaggpunsch (a Swedish arrack), simple syrup, dill, and "black pepper essence."
Fantastic place... I have been here a few times and it is not difficult to get in. Very friendly. Expensive drinks, but worth every last cent. Lovely crowd, expertly made cocktails and cozy.

The bartenders are alchemists. Ask about the essences arrayed at the bar. If a flavor sounds appealing ask for its associated cocktail. A good way to discover the menu.
Come early and on an off night and you'll have a chance at getting in without calling ahead. The Benton's Old Fashioned, bacon-infused bourbon, is uncanny

Great cocktail! The waiting time is horrible, so I waited for more than 2 hours in total. In the end you want to see it but it's not worth to go another time
PDT founder Jim Meehan demos all his cocktail- making techniques and classic cocktail recipes on video in the iPad book app "Speakeasy Cocktails". Buy it at openairpub.com or in the iPad App Store.
Excellent for out-of-towners you want to impress. Love the drinks but I'm really there for the hot dogs... Especially the Jon Jon deragon. You can order crif dogs as long as you know the name.
Underwhelmed by decor, service, and drinks. The phone got gimmicky really fast, even w. reservations, and the ambiance mirrored an upscalecollege bar. Go around the corner to e 6th for better options
Congratulations, you've found one of Esquire's Best Bars in America. (That phonebooth thing? Pretty cool, right?) Ask the bartender to suggest a drink. It'll be excellent.
The menu was a bit uninspired. Bacon flavored old fashioned without punch, Oaxaca old fashioned the same problem. Tasted watered down, glasses weren’t properly cooled.
You should make reservations at 3pm, the day of your visit. Or show up and leave your name at the door and they will call you when a booth frees up. Read more
