Massage
All NYHRC massage sessions are administered by trained and licensed professionals and are scheduled for 55 minutes, to achieve maximum benefits. If you have less time, a 25-minute full-body massage or a 10-minute chair massage session are available.
Finger pressure is applied to energy meridians within the body to balance the energy flow that may be blocked or restricted in certain areas.
Medical Massage
Massage is increasingly being recommended along with standard treatment for a wide range of medical conditions and situations. However, it is extremely important to inform the massage therapist of your diagnosed problem in order to be cared for correctly.
Reflexology
This is a powerful, natural health science that studies the relationship of the reflex areas in the feet, hands and ears to the rest of the body. Reflexology massage then focuses on these areas, working on them with the fingers and thumbs in a manner that can lead to better maintained, as well as improved health.
Swedish Massage
This gentle form of massage uses long strokes, kneading, deep circular movements, vibration and tapping to help relax and energize you by reducing tension and improving circulation. Swedish massage may also help relieve swelling and decrease or alleviate muscular soreness.
Sports Therapy
This is similar to Swedish massage but is geared toward people involved in sport activities to help treat or prevent injuries. Sports massage may help speed the recovery process from an injury and decrease muscular soreness and can also be used prior to workouts to stimulate circulation or calm nervous tension.
Deep Tissue Massage
This massage technique uses slower, more forceful strokes to target the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue, commonly to help with muscle damage from injuries. The therapist works to lengthen muscle fibers, restore balance and reestablish structural and functional integrity to the greatest degree possible, with the goal of increasing range and restoring economy of motion.
Aromatherapy
By using volatile plant and essential oils, aromatherapy can enhance psychological and physical well-being.
