The go-tos at Liliha Bakery: Coco Puffs (very famous) on the bakery side and the toasted (& jellied) butter rolls that comes with any meal on the diner side.
They have cakes, cupcakes, breads and puffs! Seems like puffs are the popular one. I got banana cupcake(the cream? on top was so yummyy) but I had a bite of green tea puff as well and was so good too!
Their pastry is amazing! Everything is fresh and delicious. The seated area gets packed fast, but you can always get it to go. Service is fine, their ladies are the sweetest. Oh, breakfast is 24hrs!
If you have a chance, sit at the FAR END of the long counter. You'll see food getting microwaved (chili, stew, spaghetti, SAIMIN!!!). I order the fresh cooked stuff now: omelette, pancakes, etc.
I usually ended here after finish at work at Midnight or 4 am in the morning those are the best time to get some small kine home cook grindz with no crowds due to everyone is already at home.. lol
Besides regular coco or cream puffs, they also make Green Teacream puffs. Green Teacupcakes & jelly rolls are great too. Try malasada with sweet azuki bean paste if you like Japanese an donuts;)
Have to echo the recommendation of the loco moco. Home cooked local food. The locals to your left and right will be happy to discuss this eateries history. Eat up and talk it up.
Take a number when you get to the bakery. Try their green tea or cococream puffs! Both are delicious. Skip on the scones though, they were disappointing :(
Coco puffs are the most popular, but I prefer the green tea puffs. If you get the chance, order their pancakes and grilled butter rolls served with hot pink guavajelly.
Hole in the walldiner. Counter-seating only. This place reminds me of my childhood. My dad and I used to come here for breakfast a lot. Love the jelly here! -Francine, The Real L Word
(2.5/5) The bakery is right next door to the diner, and is supposed to be known for their poi mochidoughnuts, which I found delightfully chewy, but a little too sweet.
this place is just amazing. the only downside is its usually packed so its hard to find seating, but waiting for a space on the counter is so worth it.
The Pastry clerk helping you may remind you that it's called a "Green Tea Puff" since there is NO COCOA or any kind of CHOCOLATE contained in this Puff.
It's Dec 20, 2012 and I've tried the butter roll for the first time. If the world ends tomorrow, I would be completely satisfied with the life I've lived.
Got Check-in Special spend $10 & get $5 credit on AMEX. Only thing their credit card system down (printed signs everywhere, leads you to believe it will be down for awhile) & they don't accept AMEX?
Baked goods are good. Service is terrible. Long wait times on top of rude and incompetent staff. Lady yelled at me 3 times asking if she was holding my order and I said yes each time.
