Order in a tapas style if you go with a big group. Duck fat fries are a must however the Foie Gras isn't for everyone. The Dog and Bo Derek were my fav along with the special BBQ Dog
Went on Thursday at noon and only had a 5 minute wait. Get the foie gras duck sausage! The jalapeño one was great too. If eating in, no need to wait at the counter, they'll come around and find you.
Hot Doug's might be the best sausage shop in America, so plan accordingly. Show up early, enjoy the wait, and look forward to chatting with Doug about your encased meat of choice.
Quite possibly the most fun dining experience I've had in years. Fun atmosphere, service and the food is unbelievably tasty. The Chicago Hot Dog and the Fois Gras dog were both amazingly delicious!
Order a foie gras and sauternes duck sausage with truffle aioli, foie gras mousse, and fleur de sel. The result is a meaty, creamy, rich blast of flavor that never disappoints. It's a cult classic.
Absolutely worth waiting in line... Fantastic Service & Amazing Food! (Not sure what topping to add to your sausage? Ask Doug! He won't steer you wrong!) This is now my favorite place in Chicago.
I spent 4 hrs of my life on Hot Doug's and regret nothing even though it was 37 degrees in May. L: grilled Paul Simonon w/Portuguese Linguiça toppings. R: fried/grilled Paul Simonon w/everything.

There's little doubt that Hot Doug's is the preeminent hot dog and "sausage superstore" in Chicago, perhaps even the country and world. [Eater 38 Member]
Without a doubt, the best hot dog spot in Chicago =) my faves are the Anna Kendrick (fire dog, nice & spicy) & the Elvis (best polish sausage EVER) I promise you won't regret waiting if there's a line
Fantastic hot dogs! But they close for good on October 3rd, so don't miss them. Get there well before they open, you can wait multiple hours to get seated if you wait until midday to arrive.

BEST in the city. Great staff & unreal menur. Rattlesnake anyone? I've heard fabulous things about the duck-fat fries. My big thrill is that they have Tater-Tots! Doug, himself, is a great guy too!
Foie gras dog. Try it at least once, so rich and decadent. Always get a corn dog on the side, at that price you can't beat it. If you go right as they open on a week day, no line!

Last day. Ordered 8 different things with my lunch partner. Loved 5, liked 2, only 1 that I didn't enjoy. Those are some good odds. Glad we made the trek/wait before it closes at the end of the week.

We hit this place at noon on a Tuesday and zipped through. BTW, listen to the people at the counter. They know what's the best way to have your sausage.
