From Ramrod in 1967 until KOK Bar in 2013, 1225 Folsom was the home of (in)famous gay leather bars. Look in the bathroom for a rather large tribute to KOK Bar, the last of the seedy occupants.
The cocktails are straightforward and spirituous; we like the Bosun's Knot, an old-fashioned with a green Chartreuse and coffee bean kick, and a classic Last Word or Vesper are also good options.
