Dewey’s has been baking cakes just the way you like them since 1930. Whether it’s a birthday, a holiday or a Tuesday, our custom cakes make any day more memorable. From the classic Dewey’s rose decoration to elaborate, hand-sculpted fondant details, we offer decorations for any occasion and price range. Our talented pastry chefs and decorators will work with you to design the perfect cake for your next event, whether it's a holiday, birthday, baby shower, or any other celebration.

Since our cakes are made just for you and your occasion, please call in advance to inquire about timing. You might be able to walk right out of Thruway Dewey's with a classic rose cake. However, an intricately designed fondant cake could take up to a week.

Wedding Cakes

Since 1930, Dewey’s Bakery has been crafting wedding cakes that are almost too pretty to cut. We offer delivery throughout Winston-Salem and the Triad, including Greensboro, Burlington, Kernersville, High Point and Pilot Mountain.

We bake in the homemade tradition using only the finest ingredients, and we offer a vast array of custom and traditional cake designs to choose from. Our pastry chefs can work closely with you to create a cake that fits perfectly with your wedding day. We also offer wedding cupcakes and grooms cakes that can be decorated to perfectly match your wedding colors and theme. Cake pricing starts at $3.50 per serving.

Cake Squares

Dewey's Cake Squares are the perfect size for serving at events or enjoying as an anytime treat. Stop by for one of these simple yet delicious squares whenever you have a craving for White Cake, Devil’s Food, Pink Lemonade, Carrot Cake, or Red Velvet. Pumpkin Spice Cake Squares are available seasonally from October 1st through March 31st.

Cake Squares can also be customized. Order them in team colors for game day, with baby booties for baby showers, balloons for birthdays, or anything else you can imagine

Dewey’s cupcakes are baked in the homemade tradition, with the high-quality ingredients that Dewey’s is known for. Cupcakes are available in our classic flavors (listed below) as well as special seasonal varieties created by our pastry chef.

Our pies are baked from classic recipes using all-natural ingredients for the highest quality. We fill our signature, buttery crust with mouth-watering, flavorful fillings that are perfect for any occasion. During the spring and summer, enjoy pies and Mini Pies in Cherry, Apple, Blackberry, and Lemon. Fall and winter flavors include Pecan, Sweet Potato and Pumpkin.

Coffee Cakes

We’ve been baking Moravian Sugar Cake, Grandpa Coffee Cake and Devonshire Coffee Cake from our treasured recipe book for generations. Each coffee cake is hand-baked, in the homemade tradition, using all-natural ingredients. Whole 8-by-8 inch cakes are available in the bakery, or you can enjoy your own personal piece with a cup of Dewey’s House Blend Coffee. If you're not able to visit a Dewey's retail location, you can shop online and have Sugar Cake and Coffee Cakes shipped anywhere in the country.

Breads & Rolls

Our Master Bread Baker, Amir, creates Stone Mill Bread daily with whole grains, all-natural flours and spices from the country’s finest growers. He hand-mills the grains used for every recipe, so each loaf has the ultimate flavor and the perfect texture.

Because we have so many different recipes, Amir uses small ovens and bakes in small batches to ensure top quality breads and rolls with flavors that are unmistakably artisan.

We offer our savory Butter Biscuits in three sizes: King (perfect for breakfast sandwiches), Regular (the size of a half dollar), and Party (the size of a quarter).

Lovefeast Buns are a cherished element of the Moravian Lovefeast ceremony, and are also great as sandwich or hamburger buns. Branded with the signature Moravian “M,” they have the subtle flavors of nutmeg, and fresh orange and lemon rind.

Pastries

Dewey’s has been baking flaky, buttery pastries from scratch since our doors first opened over 80 years ago. Biting into a Cream Horn, Éclair or Turnover will take you back in time to your favorite childhood bakery. Other pastries include Pop Ups, Danishes, Pecan Crisps, Strudels, and Napoleons.

Cookies & Bars

Dewey’s cookies are baked daily in small batches, and are big enough to share with a friend or keep all to yourself. For the ultimate treat try Oatmeal Cookie Sandwiches, featuring our mouth-watering icing sandwiched between two moist, chewy oatmeal cookies. Cookie flavors include Chocolate Chunk, Oatmeal, Oatmeal Chocolate Chip, and Spelt Oatmeal.

Our Brownies are dense, moist and packed with flavor. Flavors include the Classic Brownie, Brownie with Nuts, Triple Chocolate Brownie, and Butterscotch Brownie (this flavor available by special order only).

Breakfast

Start your morning with a cup of Dewey’s House Blend Coffee and one of our scrumptious breakfast treats. Amir, our Head Baker, creates our scones from scratch every morning in flavors like Chocolate Chip, Blueberry and Cranberry. Stop by early enough to get one that’s still warm from the oven! Other breakfast items include Cheddar Biscuits, muffins, granola, granola bars and a variety of pastries.

Seasonal Specialties

Our seasonal treats make every holiday special.

Kringles are available by special-order year round, and are especially popular during the Christmas season. These unique, oval-shaped, butter-layered Danish pastries are made by hand and filled with your favorite, deliciously fresh filling. Choose from Pecan, Apple or Cherry.

Hot Cross Buns are available from Ash Wednesday through Easter. These yeast-raised pastries are full of candied fruit and covered with a rich glaze and crumb cake topping, making them perfect for Easter and springtime events.

King Cakes, a famous Mardi Gras treat, are available in late February and early March. Each cake is decorated with beads and coins, and comes with a hidden plastic baby inside. Tradition dictates that if your piece has the baby inside, you have to buy the next King Cake! Available in two delicious flavors: Cherry and Cream Cheese and Pecan and Raisin Cinnamon.

Coffee & Specialty Beverages

Soda Fountain Beverages

Dewey’s now offers the old-fashioned sodas, phosphates and cream sodas in an array of scrumptious flavors. Our soda fountain, one of only a hundred in the entire U.S., can blend all of your favorite flavors together to make the perfect drink – there are thousands of combinations to try. Syrup flavors include Lemon Pie, White Chocolate, Watermelon, Toffee Crunch, and many, many more.

Hot Beverages

Dewey's House Blend Coffee is Rainforest Alliance Certified and features bright flavors with a smooth finish. We also offer a range of coffee and espresso beverages including lattes, mochas and espressos. Our Moravian Cookie Latte is isnpired by the exotic spice in our Moravian Ginger Spice Cookies.

Cold Beverages

For a refreshing drink in warm weather, any of our coffee drinks are available iced. We also offer frozen blended drinks inspired by our Pink Lemonade Cake Sqaure and Triple Chocolate Brownie.

Blue Ridge Ice Creams

Blue Ridge Ice Creams is now a part of Dewey's Bakery at Thruway Shopping Center! Blue Ridge has been creating Winston-Salem's best homemade premium ice creams, superb no-fat sorbets and delicious Italian gelatos since 1988. Throughout this time Blue Ridge Ice Creams has created over 300 flavors of ice cream and several flavors of sorbets and gelatos; including Chocolate Amaretto, Confetti Cake Batter, Coffee Caramel Swirl and Key Lime Pie. Nothing goes better with cake than ice cream! Try a scoop with your favorite Cake Square.

We also conduct tours of our store for small groups and are always interested in teaching kids about making ice cream. If a personal tour is something that might interest your scout troop, daycare, or school class, please contact us.

Ice Cream Catering

Off-site catering has become a large part of Blue Ridge Ice Creams and we do a great job at it. You pick the ice cream flavors and the location, and we provide everything else! With our attractive mobile ice cream carts, we can serve ice cream to small groups or hundreds of people. We work with companies, schools, churches, student organizations, neighborhood associations and more. We would love to serve ice cream to your group! Cheesecake

Dewey's rich, creamy cheesecakes are baked from scratch in mouth-watering flavors including classic original, Pink Lemonade, Banana Pudding and Pumpkin. They are available at Dewey's Thruway location by the slice to enjoy as an afternoon treat, or as a whole cake to serve for dessert. To place an order in advance, call 725-8321
