The chicken sandwich is a must try. The beignets are also fantastic (only 3 for $1). The people there are friendly and joy to conversate with. It's New Orleans in NYC!
Staff is superbly friendly. They give away free beignets from time to time to their customers. The beignets are amazing and cheap, chicory coffee is great, and their sandwiches even better.
The fried chicken is to die for! Ask for it with the honey jam and your mouth will never be happier! Def get a beignet after - they are perfectly warm and small enough to not be overwhelming.
this place is SO underrated and how it has flown under the radar for so long blows my mind. this was the OG fried chicken sandwich in nyc -- w biscuit/gravy/grits!
It's very easy to miss this New Orleans style sandwich shop. It has a more Williamsburg vibe than a Chinatown vibe. The chicken biscuit sandwich here is a must try for NYC locals and tourists alike!
Fried chicken on a buttermilk biscuit is the way to go here. The place is tiny & you might miss it. It's to the right of the listed address with tiny doors. Ppl are super friendly.
The chicken biscuit, topped with gravy, is unmatched, the oyster (or shrimp) po’ boy is an excellent and classic option, and don’t skip the horseradish-spiked beef sandwich, either. Read more
Fried chicken sandwich is one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. Although the chicken itself isnt great but the sandwich as a whole with the biscuit, gravy and slaw is amazing.
Get the classic chicken biscuit sandwich. Juicy chicken filet nestled between two warm, perfectly baked biscuits and dressed in gravy and slaw. You can literally taste the love
black-owned business in NYC, owned by one Din Yates. Scarr's right across the way is also black-owned (Scarr Pimentel). Cheeky is doing delivery and takeout during COVID-19 times
the oyster po' boy made me wanna cry; it was so good i felt moved. and whatever biscuit they use for the fried chicken sandwich is, like, heavenly. cool spot, rarely a wait compared to other LES bites
This place has a great vibe and even nicer food! the chicken and biscuit sandwich is absolutely irresistible. The bread on the Po Boys is actually shipped in from New Orleans. Try the Crawfish chips!

Fried Chicken and Biscuit: Jeremiah Stone, co-owner of Contra, delights in the way fried chicken, buttermilk biscuits, slaw, and gravy come together in this messy, New Orleans-style pile.
Pick your own adventure—beef sandwich (on challah) is the delicious, neat choice, the chicken sandwich (on a biscuit with gravy) is the delicious, messy choice!
Braised short rib with horseradish on toasted challah. Fried chicken on a buttermilk biscuit with coleslaw and gravy. A veggie muffuletta. This is not your average Boar’s Head–on–rye deli counter.
Shrimp and oyster po' boy and fried chicken on biscuits. These guys make some of the best sandwiches around. Don't miss the place; the sign's on the pavement.
the fried chicken sandwich is perfect comfort food fare: buttermilk biscuit, southern style chicken, coleslaw and gravy. also got the sea half shrimp + half oyster po'boy, which hit the spot. do it.
This is one of those places where you actually have a hard time deciding what to get because you want EVERYTHING on the menu. I eventually decided on the short ribs on challah & boy, am I glad I did!

One of the best places on earth. The vibe is the definition of cool but without any pretentiousness. The charm is simplicity, offering 4-5 sandwiches that they absolutely knock out of the park.
What a great addition to the neighborhood that we needed! New favorite lunch place. Fantastic casual atmosphere and southern ambience. The Veggie was amazing!
Most genuinely helpful service I've had in Manhattan and hands down, the best biscuits. Weirdly, the bathroom has a rustic, mountain outhouse feel to it (minus a water pump).
Don’t overlook this small restaurant because you don’t want to miss their chicken sandwich. The crunchy fried chicken topped with savory gravy is perfect in the right-out-of-the-oven, buttery biscuit.
Also, the ben-yays & coffee are a delicious, post-sandwich snack & the guys working there are super cool. After we ordered 2 sandwiches & coffees, our ben-yays were on the house! Thanks, Cheeky :)
While I have yet to try Cheeky's signature Fried Chicken biscuit, their braised beef short-rib on challah bread is a great sandwich. It isn't super filling, but it'll surely whet your palate.
For a whole 2 week, we came here everyday for either the fried chicken sandwich ($7) or the breakfast sandwich. Both served on perfectly baked biscuits.
They brought Fried chicken on buttermilk biscuit with gravy and coleslaw, Brasied shortribs on Challah, Seared pork chop on challah, Muffalata and Crispy goat cheese on flauta bread to Choice Eats!
