Great tapas place, no crazy wait either. Loved Nuestras Bravas and Bombas BCN. Paella is also good. But I think toro bravo makes a better squid ink pasta. Awesome sangria. Will be back.
The tapas combine similar levels of comforting familiarity and playfulness: beef & potato "bombas" in a suitably spicy sauce; an almost-savory sangria is the perfect drink. [Eater 38 Member] Read more
It's worth the wait! Paella Ataula is delicious and I'd recommend grabbing on and then sharing a couple of other small dishes. Left filling extremely satisfied and wishing I had room to try more.
Taste the flavors of Barcelona at Ataula, where Spanish chef Jose Chesa channels Michelin-starred restaurant experience into tapas classics, paellas, and a knockout Sunday brunch.
Angel the bartender is the best. Her warm spirit and expertise in the craft leaves you totally impressed. The food is Spanish with a Catalan twist. Get anything with octopus, especially the paella.
Jose Chesa emphasizes a convivial vibe at Ataula, which considers itself a Spanish gastropub. The tapas themselves combine similar levels of comforting familiarity and playfulness.
PORTLAND MONTHLY named the xuixos de crema ("perfect croissant dough... vanilla-bean speckled custard cream... roll in cinnamon, sugar, Sichuan pepper") one of the "10 things to devour in 2014."
Absolutely delicious! We let the chef chose what we ordered and everything was outstanding. Great atmosphere, excellent service. Can't wait to come back!
