Arsenal Football Club was formed by workers from the Woolwich Arsenal in the 1886, hence their nickname ‘the Gunners’. The club moved north of the river to Highbury in 1913.
With an original capacity of 42,000, the Stadium of Light was expanded in 2002 to seat 49,000, and its simple design is expected to allow for redevelopments up to an eventual capacity of 64,000.
Villa Park hosted the first international was in 1899 with the most recent being in 2005. It was the first English ground to stage international football in three different centuries.
This is the home of Fulham FC, London’s oldest professional football club (est.1879). The name comes from a cottage built for Lord Craven here, which burned down in 1888.
