To eliminate commercial chain restaurants from my diet, I'm compiling a list of small town restaurants, pubs and diners that cook from scratch using fresh ingredients. Tweet suggestions @gtwy
James Watt: It's always an amazing experience at the castle and the food never disappoints. Honestly, this place could charge double and we would still come back.
James Watt: Inside is cozy. Everything tastes fresh and home made. This is farmer country, so they wouldn't get away with anything less. Don't judge this great spot by the outside of the building. PS- Cash only.
James Watt: If you get the Gyro platter, get an extra peta for $1 because it's enough food to break into two petas. Absolutely the best gyro in Pittsburgh!
James Watt: Better than the Ladles in Springdale. General rule of thumb: if you like all of the ingredients listed for an item, it will taste amazing. They do a great job and I've never had bad food here.
James Watt: This place has the best coffee and specialty coffee drinks for 20 miles. Way better than starbucks, coffee tastes fresh. Try the iced mocha in the summer or a carmel latte in the winter.

visitPA: Farm to table menu, Spoon was named one of top new restaurants in US by Gayot for 2011. Try the bacon & eggs appetizer or the hearty filet & short ribs combo
Sara Thomas: The Vodka Gnocchi is amazing. They have a great menu and good prices. The service was very friendly. They have a good and cheap kids menu, too.
