As a native German living in NYC, this place sated my stomach and soul. Service is friendly and the food is authentic and super tasty. For over an hour I was transported to my childhood and Germany.
There's no better place to get a taste of the nabe's rich German heritage than at this Bavarian resto. Stammtisch serves all the schnitzel, sauerkraut and brats you can handle in a cozypub setting.
Best of all, though, is an amazing take on steak tartare, deep-red and nearly fatless beef molded on bread points and garnished with capers and raw onions. And no egg! Read more
A delightful taste of Germany. The Jagërschnitzel is great, with a rich mushroom gravy. Big steins of beer. Prepare to leave full, but check out the store next door.
Celebrating My Grandma Margaret Deckerts life with famlat Zum Stammtisch. We will miss You till we see you again soon in heaven. Mean while i'm having a beer and a weinerschnitzel. Love You Grandma
Sunny Anderson says the Jagerschnitzel & Spaetzle, at Zum Stammtisch in Glendale, NY, is to die for on Food Network's The Best Thing I Ever Ate. Find more tips at Food Network Local. Read more
The Jägerschnitzel is overrated. Würst is good, if underwhelming. The goulash & spätzle, however, is fantastic. Have it with tasty beer, and walk out feeling not-as-gut-busted as you might expect.
Amazing!!! Just the way my Grandma would cook it! Only disappointment (sorry there had to be one) was the spaetzle... It was more spaghetti shaped vs the hand cut pieces
If you want the Spaetzle you'll have to go there Tuesdays and Thursdays. Apparently there's limited availability on a traditional German side dish at this supposedly German establishment.
Food is wonderful. But attitude is brusque. The question is whether wonderful food is worth the nonsense u must experience by staff. If u r up for it, then just do it. Don’t say I didn’t warn u!
