Andy Ricker of Pok Pok says this is his inspiration. Pok Pok's version is actually better.
It's Hainanese chicken rice, and not a particularly good rendition of it. The chicken is too dry and flavorless and the chicken rice was lacking in chicken-y goodness.
Great setting for the cooking school. Instructor for the day was Chris, who grew up in New York and speaks with a New York accent.
Lovely common area, very tranquil and quiet. Breakfasts are great -- it's à la carte and you can order 3 items. The rooms are, however, nothing special. The one I stayed in didn't even have a tub.
The big and the smallest are most interesting. The "small" was neither big, nor really "small."
Mediocre khao soi and ribs. Most dishes are cafeteria style and are at room temperature.
It feels more like a cafe than a bar. The cocktails are scary sweet. Not very good mixologists working here, unfortunately.
Don't go during happy hour. There was just one sad, non-enthusiastic older woman barely moving on the stage. As soon as happy hour was over, better dancers came on stage.
