Nick Chubb: Last place open in Colchester at night so always good for a late one, but when it isn't as busy earlier in its a nice place to chill and play some pool on the tables upstairs.
Nick Chubb: Delicious food and great value for money. The atmosphere is lovely as well so a great place to have a nice relaxing meal on a Sunday before the week ahead.
Mark Lee: Located off east end of High Street (close to East Hill) and also accessible from Queen Street. Free entry. Loos. Striking building albeit largely covering scheduled monument Roman remains.
Mark Lee: A delightful town - my home town - with a Roman wall circling the old city, & a Norman Castle surrounded by a park. History includes saxon Holy Trinity church and victorian Town Hall (both pictured).

Mark Lee: (most recent visit 24/12/2016) A very good store but do make sure that deals do get recognised at the till. They are pretty good at correcting errors without a drama.
Mark Lee: 1883 Water Tower decommissioned in the 1980s and comprising 1 million 2 hundred thousand bricks! An amazing sight probably unique in the United Kingdom.
Mark Lee: Friendly and authentic .. for major feast days eg Christmas you can pre-order tasty Romanian food such as salata de boeuf, which is lovely with cold turkey!
Mark Lee: It's basically a row of bus stops in Osborne Street and Stanwell Street .. the 2nd includes fast 250 National Express coach to Stansted Airport (pre-book online) and slower 133 bus.
Mark Lee: Nice restaurant/bar;historic cinema balcony occupied by realistic dummies. Can sit and eat meals on the former stage. Bar occupies part of the former stalls. Weatherspoon app to order from your table
Mark Lee: Catholic Mass celebrated upstairs on the feast of the birthday of St John The Baptist in 2019 [24 June] the first time since 1539 when King Henry VIII suppressed the Catholic Faith in England.
Mark Lee: Strong competitor with the Raj Palace for best Indian restaurant in Colchester. A very attentive and friendly team running this. A great meal.
