Our Green Office: The beautiful and unique doors to our main conference room are made from reclaimed barn doors made from near-extinct Virginia Pine which was harvested in the early 20th century.- Our Green Office: Reception area flooring is bamboo, a fast-growing grass. Bamboo requires no pesticides/fertilizers, is low-energy & naturally renewable, is a strong, stable & versatile bldg material
- Our Green Office: In April 2000, WRI’s office space was recognized as one of the top ten best examples of environmentally responsible design solutions by the American Institute of Architects.
- WRI's mission is to move human society to live in ways that protect Earth's environment and its capacity to provide for the needs and aspirations of current and future generations.
- Our Green Office: Chairs in the reception area use seat belts that are remnants or seconds - material that does not meet stringent standards for cars but is still strong and durable.
- WRI is a growing organization. Our main reception area is on the 8th floor, but we have staff working on the 5th and 7th floors as well.
- The Roman marble mosaic panel (circa 3rd-4th century A.D.) in the reception area is on loan from Mr. David Weirdsma who saw its similarity to the WRI logo.
