Old Fleet Church

This is the church that features in J. Mead Faulkner's novel "Moonfleet". The smugglers kept their contraband in the Mahune vault. Enter the church to find the real Mahune vaults either side of alter.

You can't park here, but you can park in Holy Trinity Church (for donation). Head uphill, away from Chickerell, towards "Moonfleet Manor Hotel". Church is on right, about 1/4 mile away.

When I visited I found a notice offering a reward for the capture of John Trenchard & Elsiver Block, accused of murdering Magistrate Maskew. If you've read "Moonfleet", you'll know these people!
