An 8th century castle that was partially rebuilt in the 19th century. It includes a ruined chapel and a Moorish cistern. See one of Portugal's medieval treasures and take in the views.

Beautiful ruins of an ancient moorish castle in Sintra. Entrance fee is not cheap but the views over the surroundings and Palácio da Pena are stunning and well worth the price.

If you’re doing a Sintra day trip, I would recommend Moorish castle and the Pena Palace. Can buy your tickets online in advance for a slight discount too. View from it is breathtaking.

absolute worth the trip and hike up to the castle top! although this may not be the best for any who are scared of heights as you feel as high as the clouds up there

Loved it! To really see the nooks and crannies of the Sintra parks you need true stamina and Moorish Castle is not for the faint of heart. I had vertigo but fought through it. It's exhilarating!

Beautiful castle - don't miss it if you're in Sintra. But make sure you have comfortable shoes - sneakers would be the best option.

The castle is close to park Pena and is worth visiting it. Just do it on a sunny day; we had clouds and fog that day

Take that hike! Up the hill and then up to all the towers in the castle and take a memorable photo of Sintra as your background.

The castle is great but avoid at all costs the walking path by the mountain, from the church. It's big and horrible - by car you can actually get very near Mouros and Pena castles.

The pedestrian path is tricky to find....it's hidden within the tourist shops across from the National Palace.

Awesome castle, incredible views. You can really picture the life in it when it was built. A bus is available to get to it, but is nicer to walk using a GR footpath that starts near the town.

From the old part of town, take the walking trail up to Castelo dos Mouros. Make sure to start before 6 pm so that you get to the top before they close the inside of the castle!
