- Ben PriesterFebruary 7, 2018I had the Underbelly Ramen and the Belly of the Beast Ramen and they were both very tasty and loaded with Ramen and meat. Plus, the service was awesome.
- Delicious cocktails, great atmosphere and I loved the shrimp gyoza and fried chicken bun. I was not a fan of the ramen. It tasted bland, I tried the Belly of the Beast and Veggie w/chicken.
- Andy WangNovember 28, 2015Hipster ramen joint. Very friendly service and great selection of beer. Noodle was awesome and al dente. Broth is not bad but not nearly as good as Ramen Dojo in NorCal. Worth a try
- Hudson SutlerJuly 20, 2017Right in the heart of Little Italy is...the best Japanese comfort food in town. For ramen, it's expensive, but if there's a chill in the air you'll definitely be glad you stopped in. Read more
- Brea SimpsonJanuary 15, 2022The ramen with the dumplings…perfect for those cold SD nights. Just watch out for those chairs outside! They’ll throw you right to the ground. Oh yeah and bring your own spoon.
- Ben PriesterMarch 8, 2018So far everything! I've had the Underbelly Ramen and Beast of the Belly Ramen and both were excellent. You can't go wrong choosing this place to eat.
- Jeremy JacobowitzMarch 1, 2015One of the collest spots over ever been to! Have to try the buns and all the different ramen options! Asian fusion to the next level!
- Tim ErdmannFebruary 28, 2018Belly of the beast ramen is fantastic. If you get anxiety in close, crowded spaces, this location may not be your best choice at peak hours.
- Demi JohnsonMarch 19, 2018Great local option if you're in the Little Ital in downtown area of San Diego. Surprisingly good, firm and chewy ramen noodles, yum. I had the oysters too but wasn't as impressed.
- Toreya SheaMay 25, 2016I'm a late night eater, so this place is perfect. Don't complain about the flies or lack of spoons, suburban folks. Put your big girl pants on and act like a downtown girl. This place is sexy.
- Kris EstradaDecember 30, 2015Get the tonkotsu ramen and add vegan noodles to it! Pork belly and pulled pork add to as well! They have a really great beer list too!
- Get the Belly of the Beast and sit outside and do some awesome people watching while you eat your amazingly delicious noodles. If you are on the hot and wild side, get the ghost pepper sauce.
- Curateur MagazineFebruary 20, 2013Great unique design makes the #foodie experience one of the best. Have the belly of the beast ramen if you have a big appetite or want to share. It's big but DELICIOUS.
- So far the flies are roaming all over, probably cause its hot but worth trying the ramen anyway. I've only had it once so excited to try the veggie ramen substituted with pork broth(server suggestion)
- Alejandro PortelaJune 10, 2015Skip the ramen and order as many pork baos as you can eat, that's all you need. They are perfect.
- Belly of the best ramen, do it. No beers outside remember. Speak stairs upstairs are tough of you are bringing anyone over 50.
- Seedy side ramen and I usually add an egg and the oxtail dumplings or broiled unagi
- Matt MarcinMay 18, 2015Solid ramen. Not authentic but scratches that itch. Belly of the beast with extra oxtail, truffle oil and scallions is the way to go!
- April OrdonezNovember 12, 2011The vegetable ramen is quite possibly the best veg ramen I've eaten—outside of my home. The mister really liked his oyster appetizer (w/watermelon and sake) and tonkatsu ramen.
- ErikaFebruary 5, 2015Great beer selection and if you like ramen, its decent. A friend of ours recommended it and we enjoyed the drinks with the relaxed atmosphere.
- Ben PriesterFebruary 7, 2018I had the Underbelly Ramen and the Belly of the Beast Ramen and they were both very tasty and loaded with Ramen and meat.
- Laura DolanApril 2, 2017Try the Tonkotsu ramen with oxtail dumplings. For buns, the pork belly and fried chicken buns are the best.
- Caroline DengAugust 18, 2015Wow the Kimchi ramen with tonkotsu base and oxtail dumplings is amazing!
- Josh ThompsonMarch 24, 2013I love ramen, and having lived in Japan for quite some time, I can say that this is the best "American" tonkotsu ramen I've had.
- loran jonakJuly 7, 2016Small spot in Little Italy with outdoor seating and a very respectable beer selection. Friendly staff also.
- Pavel BozdogAugust 8, 2014Local beers and great ramen. A little on the pricey side, but great ambiance!
- Donghuan FDecember 28, 2014Very good americanized ramen! Great service! If you are a beer person, try the I love IPA!
- Steve StrezaJuly 20, 2019The pulled pork in the Underbelly Ramen, oh my god, genius and incredibly delicious
- Ann AMarch 26, 2012Mushu appetizer was amazing! Negative part of my experience was inhaling the large amounts of bleach as they cleaned which made my ramen experience less than satisfactory.
- Danieka ErasmusApril 10, 2019The oxtail dumpling 🥟 were amazingly yummy! The bacon wrapped mushroom too!
- Lindsay NaderFebruary 23, 2014The vegetarian ramen is hands down one of the best dishes I've eaten in the last year. Mushroom heaven!

- El DoostyAugust 9, 2014Kimchi Ramen. Add Egg, Dumplings & Pork Belly. Maybe Short Rib too if you're really hangry.
- MichelleNovember 9, 2011big portions and generous with the meat. counter seating all around. probably tough to squeeze in a big group. awesome draft beer selection!
- Kirti DOctober 16, 2013Want something rich & decadent? Get the Belly of the Beast, the oxtail dumplings are superb.
- LizzyApril 25, 2013Look like a regular - the bathroom is hidden. Go to the back where there's a white brick "wall" - notice there's a door handle.
- Luke WhiteSeptember 16, 2014The tonkatsu ramen with custom toppings can't be beat. Great pork buns too.
- Jerry HongOctober 6, 2013Not the best ramen but pretty good (too much meat). The egg does rival that of orenchi's. That said, they have unparalleled service, since they offered to replace our ramen after a fly flew in.
- Have to get the trio and the ramen. I highly recommend the belly of the beast!
- Kyra KilianNovember 25, 2018Wings were really good but the sun was was too intense to enjoy. (The sun hits most of the seats)
- TylerAugust 23, 2015Ask the homies behind the counter for tips. They can seriously spice up your ramen.
- Jeffrey LambkinFebruary 13, 2015Ordered a couple ramens & apps to split, prepared well, nice outdoor community seating
- Underbelly ramen is where it's at! Pair it with a Hitachi White Ale and you're good to go!
