- Claudia BarriosFebruary 5, 2014If you're a student on a budget this is a great place to do some studying or research while enjoying a $2.05 medium dark coffee from Balzacs. They have a great selection of regular coffee.Upvoted Oct 6
- I like this library. The atmosphere, availability of information. They can improve customer service. But what can you expect from some of these public servants?

- This is Toronto Public Library’s main location. Lots of seating, a Balzac’s location on the main floor but heads up: it’s a reference library, so none of the books here can be checked out.
- It opens early in a morning. There is crowded with people who is students after 1 or 2 on a weekday. I recommend as a mayor you should come early before 12, if you want to seat and feel comfirtable.
- Alex PalmerOctober 9, 2019Absolutely gorgeous architecture (inside the building, not outside) and an amazing atmosphere with plenty of natural light!
- Humberto Ribeiro de SouzaJuly 2, 2019Amazing source of resources, paper and digital books. The Reference Library also hosts laboratories and events in a variety of subjects, ranging from newcommers support to Big Data and thematic movies
- Pierre NickFebruary 27, 2015Great place to be work. Top floor by the windows offers extra silence at the cost of a weaker wifi signal.
- MortyMay 26, 20173rd floor, 3 desks (no power outlets though) hidden behind the open auditorium area on the south side; 'private' glass offices that can be reserved on 2nd, 3rd, 4th floors
- Chris R (thechristophe)December 17, 2015Great spot for a break from the city. Free WiFi, loads of space to sit and read. Plenty of sockets.
- Gift shop now open! Books, notebooks, T-shirts and other great swag.
- Nikko LopenaFebruary 16, 2017Very nice with a large selection of books. Great to study if you find a seat
- Evan AndrewJuly 22, 2019So many free resources and activities! I've probably only scratched the surface! Could have better weekend hours....
- Gustavo AsenjoFebruary 28, 2015Unfortunately the wifi signal is weak (not all the time though). Bring your earphones, some people do not know how to be on silence! The infrastructure is cool!
- Amazingly huge and quiet. A good place to go to study and read.
- Lee P.March 16, 2013The free WiFi is nice here when it works. If you have a smartphone you can tether for a more reliable connection! :)
- Lears FoolApril 22, 2016Walk up to the 5th floor and quietly become Sherlock Holmes in the Sir Arthur Conan Doyle room.
- Make this your primary coding location for a software startup. Free wifi (bit slow in the afternoon, admitedly)- lots of reference material, right next to Starbucks, Tim Hortons. Code Code Code.
- Jared BondApril 9, 2011Free wifi makes this the best place to work on an essay. Great amount of tables and wall outlets as well.
- Caroline FernandezFebruary 1, 2010the first time i visited the toronto ref, i was dazzled by row-after-row of bookshelves. perfect for a date or rendez-vous over poetry with the longterm partner:P
- May LiJune 25, 2010The only place to work in this library is on the fourth floor by the windows. Incredible view. Be aware the Internet firewalls external e-mail. No hope for GroupWise users.
- You'd think this library were the amusement park w. the hoard of ppl outside each morning waiting for it's opening.
- Maria CApril 30, 2011I feel like I've walked into a museum every time. Love the feeling of looking up and seeing all the floors coiling up
- If you are interested in nanotechnology, you wont find too many books about it))
- Audley StephensonOctober 1, 2010The renovations means that you have to walk a bit further north to get in but I'm it'll be worth it when its all done.
- Pro Tip: wifi is best on the 1st and 2nd floors, anything above is a crap shoot at best.
- Julia CarrierApril 3, 2014It's 2014 and this library can't afford a reliable wifi. Not enough copies and a lot of noise to be considered a library.
- Sandra GornallOctober 24, 2009Go to Special Collections on the 4th floor and look up your address in one of the old city directories to see who lived there in 1946. Read more
- This library is so awesome, they allow birds to educate too.
- Lights are rare to work on the 5th floor, but super quiet up there
- Homeless people haven. If I was homeless, I would totally come here and get mad smart by reading all the books.
- Public WiFi is too spotty to be relied on. Use your personal hotspot instead.
