Want a cozy subterranean bar to wait out the cold? Head to the Tippler in Chelsea Market. It offers a historic feel and traditional cocktails like Moscow Mule. Order the Manhattan Flight ($15). Read more
The Crippler: initial gentle butterscotch-vanilla rum notes (J.M Overproof Rhum and the Austrian rum-tea liqueur Stroh Jägertee) before the bite of WhistlePig rye and Vida mezcal come in.
Booty Collins was incredible, fresh, tangy and delicious! Picklebacks were delicious too, def homemade pickle juice. Can't wait to go back & try the homemadefireball! Wait outside was well worth it!
I have this knack for finding hidden obscure bars with laid back vibe and good drinks. The Tippler is one of these places, being hidden in Chelsea Market with awesome mixed drink menu and decent music
The Tippler is an all time fave of mine! I bring anyone visiting NYC here for great cocktails! Definitely try the cheese & meat plate! Weekends does get busy! Dress nice too, you are in Meatpacking!
There's something about this cozy subterranean bar below Chelsea Market that makes it the place we want to spend every cold winter night. Enjoy expertly crafted cocktails and great people watching.
Stopped by here for a drink after work once and found it to be quite cozy. Not too crowded and dimly lit..it was nice. Drinks were strong, & I already had a buzz going with just one whiskeyginger!
This is definitely a great bar with a good vibe. The people are super friendly and the selection of beer is impressive. Try to get here before 11 or else you'll be waiting on line.
Loved this bar! Came here for pre dinner cocktails and it reminded me of some of my fav places here in Italy. Cozy ambiance, great drinks, fair prices, and friendly staff.
Frankly behind the bar is super nice to each and everyone that goes to this new bar. It'll be one of the top ten bars in NYC and stay in the top ten as long as she's behind the bar. 21-40 age group
Really great vibe down here! Cool decor, cozy seating, high ceilings, and music low enough to talk over. The Booty Callins drink is like a vodka Master Cleanse. Low cell service but free wifi.
Good to get in on the earlier side, because the line really starts to get long on a Saturday night. I had the new special cocktail with coke, lime, and more. It was great!
Great cocktails. Sit at the bar and ask the guys to make you something special. There are a few great drinks that are no longer on the menu. You can by asking about those.
The Tippler has a super cool underground vibe. And it's ACTUALLY underground, so it's a great place to escape the heat after a successful Sunday Funday. The bartenders are great, as are the olives.
Sometimes it's packed and super loud with beautiful looking people, other times it's pretty chill. Over all a good choice for the neighborhood if you're not in the mood for B&Ters at the Gansevoort.
This cocktail bar in the underbelly of Chelsea Market features themed cocktails that harken back to “the good old times.” The brick archways and untouched architecture are reason alone to visit.
Bartenders are friendly, know their drinks, and can improvise very well. The space is cozy but still good for groups. No cell service inside which is a good and bad thing.
Cool bar. The Booty Collins is nowhere near as good as the Booty Collins I had in Philly at Apothecary (now closed). If you're expecting that one, try something else!
If you want a classic cocktail, something off the beaten path, a beer from the selection of draught beers, or a light bite, The Tippler is an ideal choice. Watch as Tad shakes up the Derek Smalls. Read more
This might be the perfect after work bar. Nice but not fancy, plenty of space, great cocktails and snacks, a big screen with the game on. I only wish it was closer to my office!
Hit or miss depending on the crowd, but cool spot nonetheless. Occasionally closed so look for neon sign above entrance. Strong drinks from skilled cocktail makers. Underground -> limited cell signal.
Is it just me or is this place always filled with dudes? Drinks are good and strong and the music here is nice too. Kind of a speakeasy because it's a bit of a maze down before actually entering.
No more handcut chips = tragedy (please bring them back!) but the menu retains the rest of its gems. The Derek Smalls is light and refreshing and the deviled egg toast is rich and crunchy good.
As the night continues, move on to heavier items, such as the Boquerones ($9), anchovies with roasted garlic spread on thick countrybread. A shot of lemon adds a bright acidity to the dish Read more
Careful when ordering "El Tourista". The mezcal and cayenne pepper salt is a delicious, yet deadly combination. It's not on the new menu, but the bartenders will still honor the request.
Vast space...phenomenal cocktails...attractive crowd but not pretentious. Brings a smile to my face. Although weekends can get very busy. Try the weekdays.
