Second the hot sauce warning. It is hotter than a thousand fiery suns. It is more ruthless than Ghengis Khan. It is more enticing and alluring than a boatload of sirens. Beware, brave souls!
Don't let the long line scare you away. It moves fast and is definitely worth the wait! Get your platter with white sauce and BBQ sauce and be wary of the hot sauce...
Love this place! Great stop if you have folks visiting from out of town or another country. The whole experience is worth it! LOVE THE HOT SAUCE!!!!!!!
INCREDIBLE chicken over rice for $6! Do yourself a favor, go here & beware impostors! (though note that these guys have several carts, the sign at 53rd and 6th will tell you which ones are authentic).
Try the mixed plate and don't be intimidated by the long line, these guys work fast. Watch out for the sauce in the bright red bottle. That stuff will kill you.
Over rated-Prices are going up& not worth it anymore with less quantity. Chicken over rice is good with W&R sauce. shah halal food make the best halal food ( they are main in queens area)
You know it's the right one because of the line. Falafel + lamb combo is amazeballs. White sauce is great, add liberal amounts. Try the red sauce if you dare-- ridiculously hot!
IF YOU ARE VISITING NYC, YOU ARE REQUESTED TO TRY THIS FOOD TRUCK. Chicken with rice over it. Do not add too much from the red sauce, you will be in trouble 😄😄😂😂
The wait is more than worth it! Big portions of gyro/chicken over rice for $6. Make sure you specify if you're ordering to-go or eating it right away. Don't go too crazy with the hot sauce...
Pile on the white sauce which is basically liquid crack and careful with the hot sauce but it's fantastic if you like it hot. Try some first then add more in!
This place is better than 53rd and 6th!! The original halal guys are on 52nd and 6th! The godfather is on 52nd and 6th cooking up the best halal meat in the city!
The best stuff on earth beside my moms beef curry and beef byrani, this stuff is the best, specially with xtra white and hot sauce, my lips r dripping mmmmm cant wait for some tomorrow mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Get the lamb on rice- the bits of warm pita mixed in are delish. Drown it in the white sauce, easy on the hot sauce, and add some BBQ if you're feeling tangy. All $6. Grab a drink nearby- $1.
For years, masses of people have been flocking to this cart to satisfy their hunger w/ simply the best meal in the City. Best tip: Ask for extra white sauce. It makes the meal! - Andrew / Sales Dept.
Lamb and rice all day errday with two little containers of hot sauce (ya mouth will be on fire). Perfect pre-Times Square Church service lunch/dinner. :)
It's the best - we're fans! Can we please have an iPhone app to track it down? :) There's always a line. Great after a night of drinking. To avoid long line, come around and pay $10 (it costs $5.50).
Go easy with the hot sauce! Not your typical sriracha. If you made the same mistake as I did, wash it down with a refresher at Starbucks on the corner haha.
For people who do not know, there was a business split and the original halal guys moved to 52nd street and 6th avenue. Try getting food from there, its really the best.
This is the Original Chicken & Rice Cart Location.. As the name says it get u'r chicken on rice, then smother it with the Hot, BBQ, or Ranch sauces.. Enjoy it with Pita Bread...
I ordered gyro over rice and falafel sandwich at 4:30pm on a rainy day which means line was non existent. I got chicken over rice and gyro sandwich. They have only 3 proteins. You deduce my thoughts..
Watch out for imposters. The real deal are the guys in yellow sweatshirts. The yogurt and hot sauce are outta this world. Hands down the best street meat in NYC
Cash only (duh?), seven bucks for a rice plate and five bucks for a sandwich. Great rice and pita. These days I can only eat about half before I get sick of it, though.
Get the chicken/gyro combo, slather on white sauce, dot on hot sauce (it's killer), and ask for a lid in case you don't finish it. Identical carts across and down the street - look for the yellow bags
Be careful everyone. There are impostors who have setup shop on the corner of W53rd & 6th (across from the hotel) who use the same color scheme, same bags, and almost the same logo as The Halal Guys!
