Way better than Lunch (or The Lobster Roll) across the way. Chiller vibes, all outdoor seating, and better food. The double shrimp cocktail, crab cakes, and fried oysters are all favorites.
Either under the umbrella or in full sun, The Clam Bar serves up the excellent lobster roll, generous and flavorful. Also recommended are spicy crab-sweet corn chowder and fried oysters.
Ask what's fresh and don't let them wiggle out of it. On our visit, fried clams were frozen. Lobster salad roll is good. Tuna bits are very good. Soft shell crab sandwich and steamers are both good.
Must-do while driving to Montauk. Amazing and very generous lobster roll. An institution with a very well deserved reputation. Great staff and sometimes live rock music.
Great spot for a quick bite on your way in/out of Montauk! (Usually my first stop before I get there). Good variety and delicious apps. They always have an awesome music selection too!
Lobster Roll Report: The menu says "lobster salad roll" so don't be surprised when you don't get big chunks. One of my fav lobster rolls in the hood, but make sure to try the rolls at FishFarm too.
My favorite place on Long Island. Don't mess around, get the lobster roll, grilled fish specials, pick a chowder and finish it of with the fried clam strips
Decent lobster rolls yet filled with shredded lobster instead of big juicy chunks of meat. Pretty good fried clams make this a solid stop on the way to or from Montauk.
This long time east end restaurant is a good stop for basic and more elaborate fare. Last weekend we had the clam chowder, fried soft shell crab sandwich, and the grilled tuna sandwich.
At a place like this, even a non-seafood lover can eat it all day. It’s a red shack with picnic tables. There’s beer too, which will encourage anyone to stay. Go for Blue Point, it’s the local brew.
On the stretch between Montauk and Amagansett, look for the yellow-and-white-striped umbrellas. We prefer the simple seafood here to the more famous Lunch, a.k.a. the Lobster Roll, down the street.
Victor here. BEST Lobster Roll in the Hamptons although it's Napegue.. Betsy, Maybe someday I'll get that elusive, towering lobster roll like all the other tables, I've been hoping for 10 years. Hmmm
Don't get the fried shrimp or fried scallops if you want then fresh...they're from a box "Mrs. Friday's breaded butterfly shrimp". Clams are fresh though.
They know they have a hot spot so the servers tend to snotty and forward ,over heard at other tables as well ...the seafood is fresh but plan being there a long time .
Fried scallops are pretty good. Clam roll was pretty disappointing. It was my first, so don't know if it was good or bad by standards. However, no flavor, bland batter and nothing on the roll. Meh :(
Terrible service. The employees were condescending and rude. When asked for a chair so my father could sit during the 45 min wait, they made a huge deal and sat him far away. Overpriced mediocre food.
