- Brian BassettJuly 10, 2013The seats leave a little to be desired, but for $1.99 (there's a cup of pennies at the box office) it's a steal for second-run films. Enjoy the pre-movie Wurlitzer organ on Friday & Saturday nights.
- The organ and the harp play a show on Saturday. Movies are cheap here! Also next to an ice cream place for the kids. Has free public parking place in the back.
- Fun Sat sing-along w/Christmas music.Too bad people around us & staff in the lobby continued to talk during the movie. If you need to check your phone, at least have the courtesy to step outside.
- RobJanuary 2, 2019Oldtime classic movie theatre with second runs, pls classics, etc. Super affordable and family friendly.
- It's a blast from the past. Enjoyed it very much. Will be back for sure. Saw the Incredible Mr. Limped, with Don Knots
- The Flats at West Broad VillageMarch 9, 2014We love the historical atmosphere and one-of-a-kind personality that The Byrd offers - It takes us back to simpler times! Big fans!
- Best $2 spent at local spot for a great movie. Family friendly. Feedthebyrd.org
- Bryan MortensenJanuary 4, 2015A must stop for anyone who'd like to see a movie in a early 1900's style theater.
- Price increased for the first time in 20 years from $2 to $4. Still the best movie value in RVA!
- Josey Montana McCoyJune 14, 2014The Byrd is a beautiful and amazing establishment. Keep fighting the good fight against the megaplexes! Thank you!
- CeeJay LouisMarch 30, 2012Bring cash, its all they accept. Movies are super cheap and fairly recent. Snacks & beverages are expensive, as always at any cinema.
- Sandy WhittingtonSeptember 19, 2014A must-visit spot, especially when friends and family are visiting from out of town :)
- Love the old time feel of the place and their emphasis on community events
- Rachel MercerJanuary 30, 2012$2 and equally cheap concessions. A must-do for anyone in RVA (if only just once). Some great midnight features too!
- Elias SavadaNovember 11, 2013The seats are dreadful and if you stand too long in the aisle your shoes may permanently stick to the floor. The rest of the place is awesome.
- Tara HawksJune 10, 2012If you have a living social deal, you must stand in two lines. One line to redeem deal and another line to enter theater. Pack your patience & expect to wait awhile.
- Josie AJune 9, 2014This theatre is BEAUTIFUL! But as we left the manager yelled obscenities at my boyfriend who tried to take a picture of the beautiful space. Not a good experience!
- Steve HutchinsonNovember 16, 2009Sweet talk the staff into letting you go up to the balcony where the seats are much more comfortable. Go on Saturday to see Bob Gulledge playing the Mighty Wurlitzer which is worth the $1.99 by itself Read more
- Great place to see Oscar worthy movies for only $2. However, I gotta warn you that the seats may be uncomfortable.
- Saturday nights here are the best! Can't beat the price...and the charm! :)
- Be sure to come early! The good seats go fast. Also the best time to come is Saturday nights. You'll see why!
- kristindownieFebruary 3, 2012$1.99 movies in a vintage theatre, saturday nights has the amazing wurlitzer.
- Visit the haunted balcony, if you're luck enough to end up here a night it's open!
- CeeJay LouisMarch 30, 2012Seats are falling apart and somewhat uncomfortable; watch out for loose springs, sticky spots on the floor and suspicious stains in the seat
- Get there on a weekend night and donate to the foundation (select popular movies only) to get to sit in the balcony!
- Sarah JAugust 4, 2011Don't bring your screaming babies to an adult movie. Get a babysitter- they should be in bed anyway.
- joe murrayMarch 5, 2010Check your seat before you sit down. Ripped my jeans on a seat with a spring sticking out last Sunday at the VaIFF...
