Download the museum's free app using their free wifi. It's exactly the same as the audio guide that costs €5. Look for numbers next to the pieces: gives you an idea which paintings to focus on.
Great museum, they just opened after a 10 years long renovation. Beautiful collections. Buy tickets online!!!! ING debit/credit cards holders get a whooping 50% discount!!!
Great museum with great artwork. Definitely worth the visit. Plus, persons under the age of 17 can enter the museum for free, with a document that proves the age (i. e. passport)
The audio guide, here called "multimedia tour", is an iOS app: if you already have an iOS device, you don't need to pay the 5€ to rent a device: you can just download the Rijksmuseum app on the Store!
don't forget to download the free app that works as an audioguide. don't miss the Cuypers library inside and check out the gardens. entrance is free for those who are under 18
Bring headphones and download the app for an amazing guided tour on your phone. If you don't have headphones, you can buy them at the guided tour kiosk for 1,5 euros.
Been wandering around in here for quite some time. Every painting, statue, room is worth your time of looking at it. Great museum! Make sure you study the "nachtwacht"
Perfect way to end a boat tour and enjoy one of the best cultural experiences in Amsterdam: one of the world's largest collection of Renaissance masters, the Rijskmuseum is a must-do. Read more
Book online. It takes a few minutes and you don't need to print the tickets as you can download them as an e-ticket which they scan on the door. A great way to avoid the queues!
Consider making The Night's Watch your first museum stop - going straight towards it lets you avoid any crowd that forms, then walk away among the other Dutch masters in the Gallery of Honor.
Buy your ticket online or at the counter in front of the museum (cards only) if you don't like to stand in line...(for a long time). Try to come early if you don't like crowds.
Aussies shouldn't forget to find Hartog's plate (the oldest European artifact to have been found in Australia) which is practically hidden in a completely nondescript cabinet.
Great place, at least 2-3h required. Buy tickets one day before & download applications - will make life easier, instead of audio guides. Morning is better, avoid long queues.
Go in the morning, I got to wander almost completely alone! Think it would have been better with a guide or if you learn a little bit about the art beforehand.
Quite big. You can download the audio tour app on your cellphone for free - I think it's the same version with that you can buy from front desk. However, I don't think you really need it.
This one of the most important museums in Amsterdam. Go here if you want to see works by the Dutch Masters or famous creations such as Vermeer's The Milkmaid and Rembrandt's The Night Watch.
It's a little confusing to explore so be careful you're not exiting to the beginning as you have to go through 'checkin' again. You can photograph EVERYTHING and all staff are so friendly!
Go on an off-day (i.e. Monday) when the wait is not long to get into the museum and not as crowded. Very impressive collection of Dutch art like Vermeer and Rembrandt.
You don't need to book the multimedia tour. You just need the free app. It's the same that you get with the iPod Touch from the counter. It's also free wifi in the museum.
