The highlight of this fairly large state park is definitely the scenic view from the top of a castle-like tower, notably the second highest elevation in the state of Iowa.
The Day the Music Died...this is the shrine at the 1959 crash site of Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, & the Big Bopper. Park to the EAST at 315th & Gulf Avenue, walk in past the big pair of glasses.

Never been disappointed here. Good beer, good food, cozy and friendly. Faves are corned beef and cabbage or crabcake club. Best onion rings ever!
