This boutique hotel on 38th Street with steampunk-ish bent has a rooftop enclave, too. It has vintage terracotta floors, artisanalcocktails, and indoor and outdoor spaces to accomodate all seasons. Read more
I'm basic - go w/ the Old Fashioned. At Refinery Hotel it includes maple syrup & black walnutbitters. This is a neighborhoodbar for me, lucky! Amazing views and tough to beat summer or winter.
Large rooms, amazing staff, great scenicrooftop views, delicious food, live music in the lobby bar. nothing better. This hotel has the “it” factor and then some.
I was here 2015 when it was by far the best hotel I ever stayed. 2018 it looks like things changed. I got a tiny room this time and many of the lovely details from 2015 are missing.

Wow. After multiple visits over 3 weeks with no issue, had a really insulating experience with a doorman at 10pm on a Thursday night. Wanted $500 for a table. Lots of other options just as good.
Loved the rooftop.cocktails were pricey but the menu includes more than your std drink. The apps were tasty but the atmosphere (exposed brick, industrial metal, wood beams) and view are what sells it
Spacious rooms. You get to jump the line to the rooftop bar and see the Empire State. Just don't order the room service that's exceptionally expensive and arrives in plastic containers.
Good luck trying to get the "downtown" clientele. The service is absolute garbage here, many kinks to work out. Maybe try in a year when they have their act together.
The Refinery, one of the best boutique Bryant Park hotels in NYC, stands in the heart of the Fashion District, just blocks from the park, the theater district, Times Square, and the Empire State Building.
