(Multiple locations) This Southern California native is a gem. It’s simply delicious “homemade” ice cream.

(cash only) I used to be pretty meh about Thai food, and then I was introduced to Ruen Pair. This place is legendary. You can tell how good a restaurant is by how far you’re willing to drive for it.
This place gives me flashbacks to eating pizza in Naples. They also have tv’s playing European soccer games, if you’re into that sort of thing.
(DTLA Arts District & Long Beach) - my favorite slice joint. On Tuesdays cheese, pepperoni & vegan slices are only $2. They now serve beer & wine, too.
From the Silverlake Wine family is this wonderful restaurant. Their happy hour (Tu-F 5-7pm) includes their burger + fries = $10. Its so good! Their wine selection is also fantastic because of course.
Mon & Thurs evenings SLW hosts tastings. For $15 you get 3 glasses of wonderful wine (+ gratis bread/cheese). Staff members are kind, interesting & knowledgeable. There's a food truck out front too.
I loooove this wine bar. It’s usually filled with couples on their first date so there’s also some entertainment too.
Chef Margarita Manzke is Filipino & incorporates many flavors typically found in Filipino cuisine into a lot of her dishes. Housed in a stunning building which was the original home to La Brea Bakery
It’s worth the wait and annoying part-time food bloggers. The sorrel rice bowl is one of my favorite dishes, ever.
It’s reputation precedes itself. During certain times (M-F 12-5pm, Su-Th 10pm-12am) you can sit at the bar and order any pizza + a glass of wine + a dessert for $30.
One of my favorite sushi places in Little Tokyo. This one is more of a dinner, date night, cozy vibe.
Is an amazing spot, but the line there can be insane because they have a deal of a lunch special, otherwise it's $$$.
(From the restaurant group that brought us Sugarfish) has a few locations in LA. It’s a quality, quick, hand roll bar which is well priced and without frills.
More delicious Vietnamese food. The pho is great, but my go-to order is always the bun (specifically the Bun Cha Gio).
Every time I patron Kitchen Mouse I tell myself I’ll order something new, but nope, Moros Cakes every time. So good & filling & spicy.
Kitchen Mouse & Amara Cafe are both cute & healthy spots in Highland Park, LA’s latest mecca of hip artist-types.
A little gem! This is my favorite sandwich place… not sub/hoagie, but straight up sandwiches on slices of bread. They make the bread in house. The roast beef & short rib sandwiches are my favorites!
It’s wee bit pricey as far as coffee & pastry go, but everything at this bakery is delicious. A solid choice for breakfast or lunch.
There are many great places to eat & drink in DTLA now, and of all the rooftop bar options in LA the Ace Hotel rooftop bar is still my favorite.
LA has no shortage of beautiful & hip bars. This is not one of them. But it’s also not a dive bar. The staff have been around longer than I've been alive. And the prices are on point.
