The Phoenix Art Museum houses more than 18,000 works of art, including the original Gilbert Stuart portrait of George Washington used on the dollar bill.
One of my favorite museums that I've ever been to, I especially enjoy the large exhibits that they have. First Fridays are the best days to go, check it out if you have any interest in art whatsoever.
Excellent museum. The outlay is perfect for an afternoon of easy meandering, admiring the art, great outdoor spaces, modern aesthetic and laid back vibe. Very good cafe too! See Palate Cafe review.
The exhibits are great! A lot to see! I really appreciated that there was English and Spanish translation. Went on family free day which was also awesome. Definitely would have paid to visit.
The range of work here should please everyone--contemporary to Hispanic, and Pre-Columbian, a favorite of mine. Ssome art that I saw at the Phoenix Art Museum that is on par with what I saw in Spain
Very beautiful museum. The building itself is much like a work of art. I am old school so I didn't like the contemporaryart as good as the renaissance and baroque I can appreciate it all nonetheless!
Be sure to come to the museum on First Fridays - it's open for free! They have live music, food, tons to do. They also shuttle guests around the downtown arts district to take in vendors/food trucks.
Very welcoming staff. A lovely building to explore and a great range of art from contemporary to early first century. Interesting shop and great restaurant.
"You Who Are Getting Obliterated in the Dancing Swarm of Fireflies" is a must see on the second floor. It's a mirrored room with LED lights that pulse and seem to go on forever. Cool art outside too.
With a collection of over 17,000 works of American, Asian, European, Latin American, modern and contemporary, and Western American art, there’s something for every taste at Phoenix Art Museum.
I love this museum soo much. I like coming here on First Friday because it is always a different exhibit taking place as the featured exhibit each time I go. I recommend going here on a date to anyone
The museum is a great cultural hang out. With it live performances and ever changing exhibits are a must see. The museum also offers educational programs and festivals.
If you are into fashion but see Phoenix as not really having any, think again! Denita Sewell is the Fashion Curator here and she brings so many amazing pieces here to the Valley! This is a great spot!
Explore contemporary Western American Art at The West Select, an annual exhibit featuring regional artists and a wide range of mediums including bronze sculptures, paintings and photography.
I have been here before to do class assignents. It's beautiful, spacious, & the art is very impressive! It has American, European, & Asian artwork. The musuem has scultures & swords too!
A great place for a first date. Reason A: It's just a good excuse to see some great art. Reason B: Those awkward silences can be easily brushed aside as critical thought.
Free admission on Wednesdays from 3-9 p.m. and on First Fridays from 6-10 p.m. Check out the "fireflies" exhibit on the second floor -- it's more of an experience than an exhibit.
Check out the Antonio berni exhibit right now, gorgeous and hilarious paintingsprints and sculptures from Argentina. Great membership rates too. Love this museum!
A wonderful experience of diverse forms of art. The museum includes interactive designs, product of scientific endeavors, and contemporaryart pieces. The front desk provides lockers for belongings.
If you only have time for 1 exhibit (you should really make time for all of them) go see the "fireflies" room. I won't spoil the surprise for you because it will take your breath away!
One of the lesser-known benefits of the art museum is the films they screen from time to time. Check the website for specifics, but they're always fun and interesting.
Wonderful collection of art. My favorite is on the third floor, make sure to take your time in the center of the room or you might miss the entrance to this amazing installation.
The contemporaryart collection is world-class. My favorite is "You Who Are Getting Obliterated in the Dancing Swarm of Fireflies"! Get in free after 3 on Wednesday, and after 6 on First Friday!
On First Friday, listen to the jazz music outside the museum, and after visiting it, catch one of the two free trolley rides at 6:30 p.m. that are waiting just outside the museum's main entrance.
Go to Phoenix Art Museum. This isn't your grandparent's museum. The Anish Kapoor to the left of Whitman Hall, and then the Yayoi Kusama right up the stairs, are not to be missed.
