Best steakhouse in NYC. the porterhouse is the way to go. Don't miss the baconappetizer. if you're lucky enough to go for lunch, get the burger. It's made from their dry-aged beef and it's only $12!
It’s unclear what can be said about Pete Luger that hasn’t already been said. It’s a New York institution, and the steaks are damn good. Order the porterhouse.
One of the most genuine places I've ever been to. The steak (Porterhouse) for two was excellent and the waiters made our dinner a fantastic experience. This needs to be your first stop in NYC.
A historic atmosphere and a convivial crowd are always present at this packed Williamsburg stalwart. Customers in the know order the porterhouse for two…and always with a side of bacon. Read more
It was founded in 1887 when Williamsburg was a city onto itself, and some say Luger is the greatest steakhouse in the world. Even if we can’t go quite that far, the steaks are damn good. Read more
You definitely want Canadian bacon. You definitely want some sort of salad. You definitely want the steak for two (rare or bust). And you definitely want to end with the holy cow hot fudge sundae.
Bring good friends and hearty appetites, order Steak to share (cooked under medium rare), Creamed Spinach, German Potatoes, and feast! Remember to get dessert and pile on decadent helping of Schlag!
Obviously, the steak is out of this world. Sides too. It has quite a different vibe from a typical steakhouse (wood tables, loud, more beer hall style) but it’s amazing. Totally worth it.
Porter house steaks , lamb chops and bacon strips with their signature sauce . These three are the top flavors to try. Excellent atmosphere but a little bit overpriced ...
Come for the burger during lunch. Otherwise, go nuts on their house dry-aged steak for two or however many people you have. I like mine rare/medium rare, it's that rich in umami. Make reservations!
Dude out with a massive Steak for Two, Sizzling Bacon, Whiskey Rocks, some Creamed Spinach and shovel in an enormous hunk of Cheesecake while you're at it. Read all about it on WinstonWanders below!! Read more
Super old school and quite casual-old decor, fixtures & bustling atmosphere. Definitely not your typical bougie steakhouse. It's funny I don't consume meat but frequent steakhouses for other varieties
Probably under order for your group if you're getting sides. We did steak for 4 with a group of 6 and it was the perfect amount. Must order sides: creamed spinach and bacon
Fabulous steaks, fabulous German potatoes, fabulous apple strudel. Drinks could be a little more generous, considering that the cost of the drinks, could drive you to drink.
Maybe the best meal in NYC. Start with the bacon and the onion and tomato salad, get the steak rare, some creamed spinach on the side, and finish it off with a hot fudge sundae.
Over-priced and over-rated. Steak is good and juicy. Salmon was over-cooked. Skip creamed spinach and German potatoes for onion rings and fries. Baconsteak and salad with blue cheeseappetizers best!
Thanks to the decadent bacon, the delicious cheese, the not-too-creamy creamed spinach and the renowned Luger Sauce, Peter Luger Steakhouse's burger is one of the best. Read more
You will be admonished if you order your steak anything other than rare, so it's best to just let the kitchen take control. For sides, creamed spinach, onion rings, & German fried potatoes are a must.
The hamburger on the lunch money is what I go back for all the time. And of course the ice cream sundae. Sharing with the kids proves problematic. I have to order my own.
No need for a menu at this Brooklyn legend. You’re going to want the butter-basted Porterhouse for two (which, honestly, serves three), some thick-cut bacon, hash browns, and creamed spinach. Read more
I've been to many steak houses and no one beats Lugers. Not only is the steak good but the salad, bacon and bread are just as good. Everything is delicious.
Worth the trip into Brooklyn to get to this Mecca of steak. Porterhouse, creamed spinach, and a potato, and you'll be happy. Cash only, or get the house credit card (it's free) to look smooth.
An experience that cannot be missed. This place is one of the must dos NYC has to offer. The steak is amazing and the service is truly New York at its best.
Super flavorful and tender steak and the steak sauce compliments the meat well. The thick cut bacon was amazing I could have had 3 pieces! Definitely, a must have when in NYC.
in 2013 I was obsessed but I went last night and my opinion has changed. The steak at Strip House + BLT are (dare I say) better; the vibe and prices are better. I did LOVE the hot fudge sundae tbh
Really nice burger! Ask for the bacon also. If the line is too big, get a place on the bar, have your meal right there and have a nice talk to the bartender. Make a reservation.
The best steak in all of New York City. Yes it's expensive and cash only. You have to make reservations far in advance but it will be the best steak you've ever had. The burgers are also fantastic.
A NY institution that is sure to please. Had a delicious meal and fun time. Did not experience any of the issues Pete Wells did. Bring a wad of cash or your debit card and get ready to drop a bundle.
Peter Luger's burger is no frills & all flavor. It offers a thinly charred exterior to a precious pink treasure of its juicy, dry-aged core.Topped with onion, American cheese, & a thick slab of bacon.
Order the powerhouse. It is the best in NY. A good bottle of Malbec will pair perfect with this juicy and great flavor steak. Ill try to make it once a month. 🍷🍷❤️❤️
Been to this place when I was a kid with my mom and stepfather. The place is a great place for tourist who vist NYC, especially the Williamsburg. Brooklyn area. If you love steak, hashbrowns, potatoes
Needless to say, this place is amazing. To not waste your time, obviously the steak is top notch. With that being said don't miss out on the Canadian bacon as an appetizer!! It's a must!
Have had the burger&bacon, but not the steak. I'll vouch for the burger: it's a sizable, juicy beast, with pretty good flavor. Loved the thick cut bacon.
You MUST get the bacon. The steak portions are large so be careful how you order, Steak for Four easily feeds six people. Don't forget to leave room for apple strudel with schlag for dessert!
Steak for two is a must as is the shrimp cocktail. And the bread basket...OMG!! The steak literally melts in your mouth and no sauce needed. Key Lime pie=heaven!!
The creamed spinach and the bacon were the real standout dishes. The steak and Luger's sauce were classic and wonderful. The drinks were strong and the desserts were delicious.
The cheeseburger was nicely seasoned and cooked to requested temp (medium). Served with raw onions by default, simple. Onion rings were more of strings, a bit on the greasy side.
Peter Luger Steak House has been serving the finest steaks since 1887. We choose from only the finest USDA PRIME meat available. The selection process is crucial and therefore is done only by members of the family who visit the wholesale markets on a daily basis.
