They have a new menu starting TODAY! Their award winning grilled cheese is certainly a treat. I look forward to trying the braised rabbit dish. Lucas is a sweet server.
Don't listen to the nay-Sayers, given the turnover here, Canteen is one of the best (if pricey) alternatives to the usual Indian and pub fare of king street. Try the wonderful gnocchi.
Tip for Canteen manager: make an effort to serve more locally sourced food. You have a basket of apples from S. Africa!? It's apple season in Ontario and you have a farmers market across the street.
Menu items seemed interesting, but I was expecting more from an O&B franchise (also overlooking the fact that they burned my quiche). Place also needs more staff during busy times!
The poached chicken was great, but everything else disappoints: slow service, a beef brisketcroissant that skimps on beef, and lacklustre gazpacho and coleslaw. Great people-watching though. Read more
The BBQfries were overly salty with seasoning salt. They were inedible. The grilles shrimp was sloppy with Aioli over powering. The burger was pretty great though!
The chicken was a bit on the dry side, which was pretty disappointing because of my positive experience with other O&B restos. Also - had a difficult experience paying w/ a gift card.
Great food, awful server! At breakfast for 1.5 hours and had to ask for our food after an hour, a refill on coffee and water and had to ask another server for the bill so we could eventually leave!
